Pretty nice. I do like the new Astra's with bodykits etc. The wheels also go well with the package.

And what is the R badge in the back for?

I like the facelift, made it look more aggressive. But the 5 door layout spoils the sideview, I'd rather get the 3 door, even if it made it harder to get in the back. images/smilies/tongue.gif

What's the specs on it?

Nice car. I suggest you should get rid of the eyelids and the painted drum-brakes. But hey.. we've all been 18, could be worse. images/smilies/wink.gif

Nice looking car.

I believe R is used just in Northern Ireland and stands for Restricted -- it's like the "L" plate but you get it for the first year after you pass the test, and I believe the limitations are more relaxed than an "L."

Diesel sporthatches are cool, though...they are the new black. images/smilies/smile.gif

I do like the Astra Sporthatch, I think its nicer than for 4-door, and the Diesel engine in that car is very good.

Agreed the 3-door is more dynamic in it's lines and prettier, but I'm spoiled and lazy and just cannot stand having to climb in and out of my car just to let freeriders (aka friends) out.

The 5-door is nice too, and I dont just say that because I have one images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Like our crappy system where you have to have L plates then P plates for the first 3 years of driving.

lol over here, we have to display the R plates for 1 year after passing the test. It stands for restricted driver and officially we arent allowed to exceed 45mph on public roads images/smilies/dry.gif

Nothing saying here you're a n00b apart from the driver's licence. No restrictions apart from zero tolerance for blood alcohol level (immediate licence suspension) and we only get 7 points, not 18. Also an insurance bonus of 20%. Only lasts 2 years though.

Whereas I, a Yank, just terrorize the Irish roads in the largest car I can possibly rent images/smilies/smile.gif

Just kidding...mostly images/smilies/smile.gif Although I will admit I remove all the Hertz stickers from the rental as soon as possible to minimize my tourist appearance.

The 300 does seem intimidating, definitely...but I drove a Land Rover Discovery for three weeks all over the place (like 2,500 miles of driving) and it was mostly okay. It's all in your head, I think images/smilies/smile.gif

The insurance on that thing for an 18 year old - especially in Ireland must be horrific!
