Great car. I always liked the older, more professional, looking German sedans.

Congratulations! That's a strapping specimen of a W124! Definitely one of the best Mercedes ever designed/made.

They sure don't make them like they used to.

Firstly - congratulations images/smilies/biggrin.gif I'm sure your thrilled images/smilies/dancing_mouse.gif As you probably can assume - I love it, good choice!

It looks in pretty good condition as well, inside and out. That colour will be a bitch to maintain but very rewarding if you do so images/smilies/yes.gif

That interior looks fairly well equipped with electric windows, sunroof and seats....nice images/smilies/thumbup.gif

How does it perform? I'll assume its not a beast to drive but it would have that 'rock solid' feel to it right? You really need to work the throttle on those old MB's to get as much performance out of it due to their long throttles, but luckily, MB do the best auto-boxes in the business so that'll help you along the way.

My only niggle is you replaced the original HU in favour of something new. I really dislike seeing new and flashy MP3 thingy's in an old car. They look so out of place but I'm sure you had your reasons for it.

p.s. - nice laid back driving position images/smilies/tongue.gif You pimp in ur black MB...enjoy mate!

Congratulations! I'm seriously jealous! That car looks brand new with that shine and near-perfect interior. I'm amazed you found one with such low miles and one of the last great Mercedes-Benz ever made in my book.

Can I borrow your car?

Wow, very nice. You've actually inspired me to look at those, and 190s. They seem to go for pretty cheap, good stuff!

Mischief007, it has 177hp, 3.0 engine, its the first year with that design (1986), does 16-20mpg and people have told me they thought it was a 90's version because it looks similar, well to non car enthusiasts. I myself can recognize the face changed E-class or 1989-1993 in comparison to my version.

Been very busy lately but will definitely have to pop in there for some discussions.images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

The auto box is smooth and very nice. The car rides very smoothly overall and is luxurious even for its age. It does have a long throttle but when you need power it will give it to you when you put the hammer down. The power is enough most of the time. It also has a nice sound when mash the accelerator and is quite quiet when driving normally on the highway or in the city. Its civilized most of the time and vicious when I need to get to an highway on ramp from a dead stop or getting past a slower vehicle on the highway. Not many curvy roads here but it takes turns nicely and gets a fair grip on the road, I feel connected with the car while driving it. It does have a nice feel and easy to drive, not too many electronics interfering.

I totally agree, I even bought a cassette adapter to hook up my mp3 player to it but the dealer changed it while it was prepped. The original radio wasn't working that well so they took it out. I like to keep the car stock and was a bit disappointed at that but it turned out nicely as the cd player and mp3 line out made me forget about the original one. Im even fine with those american lights as the euro ones make it look like the newer model, a mod I dont really want to do, even though the lights functions better with the euro ones.

That's awesome! It looks so clean inside and out.

I grew up with one of these so I have a soft spot for them... ours was a '89, manual, and a medium shade of gold. I think black looks better. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Like my post says they came in MT, and I'm pretty certain the 190 did as well. However I'm not sure if that was the case for the North American cars.

Great car Justin! Those old MBs are great for comfortable cruising, and the 1980s/1990s models are also renowned for their great handling due to their multilink rear axles (introduced in the 190 afaik). Combined with bulletproof technology, it's an almost unbeatable combination.
Had any wet roads yet? (RWD sedan + wet roads + big torque = big fun images/smilies/mrgreen.gif)

Ah ok, that'd be right. Everything has to be "tronic" with Merc, doesn't it. I was wondering where all the air-con controls/dials were. So it has climate control...even better!

I think the Euro Front headlamps are better looking IMHO - if they are legal in the US (and why not the rest of the world get by with them without loads of dead MB owners littering the sidewalk) an option would be to fit them.
