So I got my first car on January 11th. Was on my way to a holiday, couldn't go past this thing when we came upon it in Newcastle. So on the way back from the holiday dropped back into the dealer and bought it. Did the entire Newcastle --> Brisbane trip in a day, and the only thing to go wrong was the aerial stopped going down without a tap. It's now stuck up and won't go down at all, but that's pretty much the only thing to go wrong and needs fixing.
It's a silver 1996.1 Mk IV Toyota Supra SZR. $13000 on the road, cheap as chips for what it is, especially the condition it's in, beautiful. They even threw in a radio for free so I didn't have to listen to silence all the way, and nicked some mats out of one of the other Supras as a bonus. Pretty much stock as they come, no bodykit or anything. Only found out it was an SZR last night, I've spent the last month thinking it was a standard SZ, but now I know I have the Torsen LSD and bigger brakes. Getting about 10L per 100km with a good combination of city and highway driving. I expect it to get better as the city driving gets less, namely when uni starts. So the piccies: ![]() ![]() ![]() Only outer pics at the moment, gotta dust the inside, dust is oh so obvious when everything is black. I'm loving it though. And don't think that's because I go out and act like a crazy 17 year old, I've only spun the wheels a little bit in the wet. The pressure from mates is fairly big, but as I keep telling them: "I'm at uni. I can't afford tyres, these have to last as long as possible." Plus I had to earn a lot of trust from my parents to get this, and I don't want to wreck that by doing something stupid.

Not a bad car considering your 18. It's pretty hard to find standard supra's nowadays.

Nice car.
For some reason I prefer the SZ over the RZ. Not sure why - it might be the fact that it doesn't have the whole F&F thing hanging over it, and the drivers don't have 2JZ zealotry. Not sure what the QLD laws are like when it comes to P platers and modifications, but I have a mate who had an SZ for a while and that cast iron inline 6 sounds really tough with a good exhaust on it. |

A stock Mk IV, considering the AUD price to CAD thats actually quite cheap considering the cheapest Mk IV saw was a wrecked parts car only barely cheaper. Great find especially considering you got a car that is to others a dream car as your first. Keep in mind that taking good care of a car like this will not be cheap, Toyota doesn't exactly make this easy for its more expensive/unique cars. All thing said and done, drive safely and have fun.

Between the kid that has the Karman Ghia as his first car and now this guy, I'm beginning to realise how shitty my high school years were.
Awesome, AWESOME car mate.

Oh forgot to ask, is this the 3L Turbo or the non-turbo and what's the 0-60 time around on one of these?

Cheers all, don't worry I'll take care of her.
avanti, specs say 225 ponies, no doubt a couple have been lost over the years. Blayde, the six speed came mid 1996, this is only January so it's the last of the 5 speeds. sam-l, the SZs are the non-turbo models, 0-60 comes about in around 6.9 seconds according to tests, I haven't tested that for myself yet ![]() Qld laws on modifications for P platers only applies to those under the new laws, which I am unfortunately and is basically anything requiring an "approved person" so any relatively major modifications are not allowed. Not that I have the money to do anything anyway, it's more the annoyance I can't have more than one passenger after 11pm and before 5am because I'm normally the one who doesn't drink at parties... but that' another topic altogether. Sounds pretty good already though, I mean for my age and considering it's up against my mate's 626, Mirage, Commodore etc. heck, I'm not complaining. Again, thanks for all the kind comments all.
