Congrats on getting it, but I will be putting those images through TinEye later on to see if this is legit. A GTI must cost a small fortune to insure as a first car, depending on your age I suppose.

It doesn't get more expensive depending on age or location(except if you live in the countryside) only on the cost of the car and type, I think

Yeah, the ones from tmtuning are way overpriced. You did a good job though; just regular rattle can, Krylon, or did you do something like plastidip?

I will be painting my emblems black sometime in the future, but I'll need to do my whole front grill as well or else it will look odd. Plus I'm leery about my silver wheels looking silly with a black bumper. Too much bling on the R32...

Far too good for a first car. I've said time and time again, that one's first car should be the worst piece of crap available. That way you learn to drive in something that you wont mind fucking up, crashing, etc. Other than that, nice car.
