Hiya, just wanted to ask smth.
Well, my dad's got a 1989 Delta (don't laugh!) 1100cc images/smilies/wacko.gif
Anyway, the point is, I would like to do a lot of things to it, but i don't know if it's possible. For example, new engine, brakes, springs etc, a lot of bodywork stuff. So, is it possible to transform the lame 1.1 to -roughly- an Integrale? Or am i just being stupid here? Also, 4wd is kindda out of the question, isn't it? images/smilies/mellow.gif

Anything is possible, but converting a normal Delta to Integrale-spec will be much more expensive to do than just buy a real Integrale straight away. So buy an Integrale. Just think of all the things you will have to buy. Basicly you will have to buy a crashed car or something like that and take all the parts from it. You will have to buy a complete Integrale anyway.

Converting a normal Delta to Integrale-spec is just an incredible amount of work because almost nothing is the same. It will just break your heart and make you a poor man at the same time.

Buying an Integrale isn't so expensive. Maintaining one is hard part. So if you feel confindent and have a steady income buy one. And if you're thinking about that conversion I believe you have saved up a proper amount of money anyway. Get the real thing in the first place and save time and money.

Speaking of expensive maintenance: Just got the car back after a full engine overhaul inclunding some other minor things costing me 3500 Euros. Got a bit delayed at the garage so it spent 2,5 months there.
Some modifications to the car coming up also. Previous owner the Evo-spoiler mounted but that was ripped off buy some idiot leaving me with a couple of holes in the bootlid. Bought a new spoiler now which will be painted and mounted as soon as I get it. Small amount of rust is showing at the windscreenframe which will be dealt with. Also the shocks could do with replacing and I will probably go with KW Suspensions Version 3 which is a fully adjustable setup. Will come in handy at the next Delta trackday. images/smilies/smile.gif I'll post some more pictures and info when I get the stuff and start assembling.

I never said you should throw it away. All Deltas are good cars imo. Some just serve a different purpose. Just buy an Integrale also. The basic Delta can't be too much of a monthly cost right? If i remember correctly there is Greek Integrale club. Check out where they have theri meetings and then go there. I'm sure they will be happy to take you out on a spin or even let you have a go if you're careful if you ask nicely.
Just know that once you've driven one, you are gonna want one of your own images/smilies/smile.gif

Here is the link for Delta HF Integrale Hellenic Club: http://www.hfintegrale.gr/start_gr.htm

How much money do you reckon you could spend on a car?

5000 - 6000 gets you a good Integrale. I hope you're aware of that images/smilies/smile.gif Mine cost 6000 e.g. So you could buy yourself a 8v or 16v. Dunno if you're good at fixing with cars yourself, that will obviously cut costs.

The mechanical parts aren't that expensive since they are fitted to a couple of other cars in FIAT-group. Bodyparts are another thing though. They can be a bitch. But as long as you're not planning on crashing the car you should be alright. images/smilies/smile.gif
Just treat the car the right way: use good oil and change it regularly, always let the engine come up to workingtemperature before driving hard. After driving it hard let the car run on idle to give the car a chance to cool down.
Integrales are generally tough and reliable cars if you treat them right.

If you're planning on buying one let me know and I'll give some tips on what to look for.

Just buy the very best car you can afford even if that means maybe buying it abroad. That will pay off in the long run.
There are some models which are catalysed and they have KAT in there modelname. They have 177 bhp. Avoid them if you don't need a catalysed one to be able to register it in Greece.

Awesome images/smilies/thumbup.gif

Looks very well kept, seeing how they are becoming collectibles, I'd keep the EVO wing off and try to maintain it as original as possible (at least the looks). Keep the original wheels too, they are gorgeous and beat anything else that is available.

Thanks

Previous owner already had a wing put on. But some idiots just tore it off the car was left with a couple of holes on the back.
And yes, the stockwheels will remain on the car.

What a coincidence. I saw the first one I've seen in Australia today on the way to work. Same colour as yours too.

Oh, and in WA, if a car is over 15 years old, it can be registered in LHD without any modifications.

True, but I doubt you could easily import a 16v (1989 or later vehicles have tougher/more expensive import rules, but you can import the quicker Delta models under SEVS). I dunno how much an 8v would be to import, though. Saw a couple Integrales on Carsales, a LHD one for $26K, a RHD one for $35K.
