My motorcycle(s)

I guess I have to make a motorcycle thread too.. images/smilies/smile.gif

Currently I have a 1988 model Suzuki GSX-R750 that I bought about 4 years ago. It is my weekend toy that sadly don't get used as much as she deserves. I try to go for at least one trip every weekend.

For being a almost 20 year old bike its in good condition, those old GSX-R engines are pretty bulletproof. When I bought it I was considering to modify it a bit, but as with my car, that has been cancelled. Next year it is eligible for "historic" road tax and insurance, so she is staying in original condition.

My daily mode of transport is a scooter, an MBK Ovetto 50cc (aka Yamaha Neos), it gets abused daily but never complains. The "consumable" parts, tires and brakes etc usually don't last long.. (imagine the intro to the movie Taxi (french original ofcourse)).

I'm planning on getting my bikelicense next summer so I was looking for a nice sportbike to roam the roads with images/smilies/smile.gif

What should I pay for a good 2nd generation Gixxer?

You should be able to find a very nice 750 for 20.000-25.000sek. As I mentioned above, the engines are bulletproof, so with regular maintenance they last forever.

I'm usually not one for sportbikes but that Gixxer looks pretty cool. Gotta love the older bikes. That little scooter looks like a fun way to get to work.

Here is some pictures of my first motorcycle, a Cagiva Mito 125, just had it for 6 months then I bought the GSX-R. It had a 160cc kit and did close to 200km/h 8)

Was it a scary bike? I'd imagine it would be a hell of a handful, being that small and nimble...

Wow, not only do you have that nice Delta but two fine bikes as well. Nice to meet some fellow riders on this forum. Now to meet someone that has a Speed Triple...but I digress. That scooter looks like a lot of fun to ride around. A friend of mine that grew up in Key West, FL had one and got a speeding ticket on it for 55 in a 30...when he was 13. images/smilies/lol.gif

Mine is starting to show signs of the abuse, mechanically it is perfect, everything else is falling apart, last thing that gave up was the speedo... images/smilies/cry.gif

Current mileage for the Suzuki is approx. 64.000kms/40.000miles, I ride her as hard as the public road allows.... images/smilies/whistling.gif

A funny thing about old GSX-R's, the tachometer starts at 3.000rpm images/smilies/biggrin.gif
