Default My "new" 1987 BMW E28 525eA

Hey Folks.

Thought you might be interested in some good old metal...

It's a 1987 BMW E28 525e (Some might know it as 528e in the states) automatic.
Lachs-silver, Nutria-brown inside.
Pretty much rust-free except for the car-lifter-mount (?) and the sunroof drainage (?) at the front-left and the right edge of the front bumper.

What I've got planned to do:
  • Change all fluids (engine-, gearbox-, diff-, steering-oil, brake fluid)
  • Get rid of the rust and seal everything with wax or something like that
  • Bringing the automatic antenna back to life
  • Proper rims. Those steel rims with hubcaps make the car look poor. I want to put 15" oder 16" cross-spoke rims on it.
  • Maybe lower it slightly, about 20-30mm
  • Put in electric windows
  • Put in radio remote control for the original central locking
  • Brown sports seats with armrests
  • Leder gearknob
  • Polish it completely
  • Re-bend the front and rear bumper since they are deformed by prior little accidents

And some pics:

Always nice with eighties cars! images/smilies/smile.gif As lilleput says, it looks like it is in good condition.
This one looks very nice: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...8-BMW-525i.jpg

I like those 80's BMW's. You should make your car look like this:

It's quite nice. I think a nice low-key set of alloy wheels in the stock size would definitely be nice, but not required.

Nice car! I agree with Steve and the OP, this car needs some 15" or 16" LM wheels. The hubcaps are too modern (E30 and E34) for this car, and don't really suit it.
These wheels look the best on E28s, especially the BBS cross-spoke ones.

The 525 looks great! Your number plate is almost perfectly suiting the model too...heh being e28 5-series, 525
Did you search for automatic or was there no choise? There sure are a lot of good BMWs available in Germany. I drool over them weekly on mobile.de. Or is the E28 so much more appreciated than the E34 that it's hard to get?

The plate more stands for the 2,7 litres of displacement and that it's an eta...
I was looking for an automatic since i got pretty tired of all that clutching in town...I'm still not sure if I miss clutching and shifting when letting the car fly...That'll show in the future/spring... images/smilies/smile.gif

E28's in genereal are a lot more rare...and so are examples in good condition. So, to find a good one, with a proper engine and a good amount of extras, you have to be patient...and accept that you have to pay more than a few hundred bugs... images/smilies/smile.gif
