Excellent set of modifications, Not sure about the stickers on the side, and the foglights are hardly necessary, but overall great job.

Also, your exhaust is looking quite grim for a 2008 model

As for the big Hella driving lights, those will be taken off soon. BlackFlamesCustoms will be doing a full HID retrofit to my headlights, so I have no need for them. I'm probably also going to lose the side decals as well. They were fun, but they make waxing the car a real pain, and I'm also going for a more stock look.

I've since won my class in autocross for the year. The car was tuned and put down 136awhp and 135awft-lbs of torque on a very hot summer day. So power is down then. The car feels more powerful now in the colder weather, but I'm not gonna go and get it dyno'd again. Don't want to spend the money.

There are some tentative plans for the winter for mods, but if I do anything, it won't be anything too crazy. I'm saving a lot of money for a vacation, and there's nothing super major left to do to the car other than bushings and certain, very specific weight savings (lightweight exhaust headers-to-tip).

Just worked out a deal to get the Subaru SPT Group N transmission mount for my car.

This week, I participated in the Autocrosser of the Year runoff, in which the winners of every class, in addition to driving their car, also drove a runoff car. I lost the runoff, but I wasn't expecting to do well. I was only a rookie driver, after all, and the car was set up NOTHING like my car. It was mid-engined against my front engined, lightweight against my middleweight, manual steering against my power, rear wheel drive against my all wheel drive, racing compound tires against my street tires.

However, in my own class, I destroyed the competition. Since my class consisted of all the "Street Touring" classes together (but only the rookies), there is employed a PAX, or handicapping system. ST gets so many seconds taken off, STX gets slightly less, and STU even less. The classes can be explained with Subarus, though they are not limited to just Subarus: ST is my car, the 2.5i (170hp 2.5L engine from the factory, no turbo), STX is the 2002 to 2005 WRX (220hp 2.0L turbo engine from the factory) and STU is the 2004+ STi and 2006+ WRX (300hp or 235hp 2.5L turbo engine from the factory). Well, I would not have needed the PAX to win yesterday. My raw time was faster than everybody, including a big HP STi.

So with the points events for the year done, here is my total take-home:

That's one 3rd, three 2nds and three 3rds, plus a Rookie's Fastest Time of the Day, in 8 events (one I did not attend because of Mother's Day). There is one more event this season, a non-points (but still trophies!) event on November 8th at a lot 3x as big as the one I'm used to. It's going to be a blast. I'm going out to win more. Never can have too many trophies, after all.

And another first place in the last (albeit a non-points) event of the season. Still took home a glass, though, against some good competition.

I had a BLAST this season. I can't wait until next!

... and yes, that thud you hear in one of the videos is me hitting a cone. However, I repeated that time the next lap, only I was .6 seconds FASTER, and clean (no cones). Saturday the car will be getting some window tints and a bumper to bumper detailing, before I bring it home and change over the the winter steel wheels.

Funny how we both drove those Buicks and I've been seriously looking at subaru's like yours for the past month or so.

what do you like about it in comparison to other cars in its class? if you don't mind me asking.

and nice autocross vids btw.

Nighthawk: Truthfully, the AWD. The shifter is a bit better than the 3, at least when I was testing them. Of course, I've modified that so it's really nice now. I just like the versitility of a hatchback and the reassurance of AWD in the winters. And the community. Subaru is a nice community to belong to.

Also, I got a detail and tints today:

And then I promptly drove home and took my summer wheels off in exchange for my winter steels.

Haha, you don't need half the money I did! Your car is so much like the WRX's and STis (like mine) that you can buy their old, stock parts and build an awesome car on the cheap! Plus, you have all the parts, OEM or aftermarket, to choose from from '02 through '07.

WRX springs are a direct swap for a nice little drop. Might even be able to drop straight onto STi or STi Pink springs, plus any used aftermarket springs. If you don't wanna step up to the full Group N tranny mount, a WRX 5-speed transmission mount stiffer than stock. WRX and STi rear swaybars and droplinks bolt up perfectly. As do their catback exhausts. Trunks swap over perfectly as long as you trade push-springs too.

You have so many parts at your disposal and you don't even know it You can easily build your car on the cheap! Truthfully, my only big mods are the swaybar, the springs, and the drivetrain stuff. All together, I've certainly spent less than $5,000 on my car. You could do a lot to your car for $1,000. Cruise the NASIOC classifieds, and if you have any questions, don't ask them at NASIOC. Come to CTSubie.com (even though it says Connecticut, we welcome any and all Subie owners as long as they are jerks!) and ask questions. You'll find our members more welcoming and just as knowledgeable as NASIOC with none of the snark or flaming. Heck, post up in the general about what parts from WRXs and STis work on your car (on the cheap) and wait for a gent named Big-E to reply. He is one of the most knowledgeable Subaru people I know. He helps me with all my installs and I often ask for his advice before I buy a new part. He's well respected for doing lots of research to make sure everything works PERFECTLY when the install comes

The car looks VERY nice but im really really missing that hood scoop!!!
Looking at all the pictures I just thought it really really needed it to complete the "rally/race" look you have with the wheels and all that.
You will properly disagree with me but thats me (;

Btw: Nice number plate!

I'm sorry, but this is, no doubt, the worst Impreza ever made. It's just an hatcback with ugly rear lights and a dull face. An Impreza needs to be more, like a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. This is an Impreza:

I miss not having a hood scoop too, but I don't want to be a poseur. I know quite a few 2.5is running around with STi wings and big exhausts and hood scoops looking for all the world like STi's, but lacking all the STi goods. That bothers me, I suppose.

Got some new parts in today. Install on Saturday

I was looking at getting a 2009 WRX back when my dad was still buying me a car... >.>

But yeah..

Nice car.

But now that I have been driving for a while, I realize that performance is not the number one priority in a daily. I want my dad to get me a Mk6 GTI.

Thanks man! Performance is nice, but you'll appreciate suspension more on the road. It's all about USABLE power.

I suppose I should explain myself a bit more on the pictures. These are fully HID retrofitted OEM 2008+ Subaru Impreza headlights, all work done by JB at Black Flames Customs.

Components used are:
-TSX Projectors Color-modded w/TSXR lense upgrade
-OEM STI (Japanese word that gets censored) ballasts
-Phillips 85122+ D2S 4300k bulbs

All assembled into what amounts to a fully plug-and-play package. We will find out Saturday!

Components used are:
-TSX Projectors Color-modded w/TSXR lense upgrade
-OEM STI (Japanese word that gets censored) ballasts
-Phillips 85122+ D2S 4300k bulbs

All assembled into what amounts to a fully plug-and-play package. We will find out Saturday!
