Its not a bad daily driver man, but my heart aches for you for losing your torque images/smilies/cry.gif

Why did you have to sell your car?

No offense but most of you are completely clueless about this car. That Si is G-R-E-A-T and has tremendous potential. Civics are known to be fantastic autocross cars. Here's what you should do:
1) take out as much weight as you can
2) buy some nice shocks and springs
3) buy a set of good tires (eg Falker Azenis)
4) smile as you rape camaros, mustangs, and the like around corners

Big cubes and loud exhaust are not the only way to have fun

Not much point in beating camaro's and mustangs around corners on the way to the store/school^ lol

I agree civic's are great cars though. I can't deny they're pretty fun to drive.

But they are the best images/smilies/tongue.gif. Something with a V8 that can corner being the epitomy of fun.

Sorry you had to give up your El Camino, but those Si's are a lot of fun. That should be a great car to hang onto for a daily driver/autocrosser while you toy with other stuff.

You know, if this is gonna be his DD, throwing out all the weight humanly possible doesn't seem like a good idea.

Look, i know you're a smart guy, so lets try not to destroy this thread by arguing for 3 pages, but are you telling me that a high volume economy car, built for the express purpose of value for money and reliability (which it does very well) is going to be anything like as good as a dedicated 2 door FR sports car in any evaluation of performance, corners or otherwise?

I'm sick of hearing that my car handles like a dodge charger because it shares its engine configuration. images/smilies/mad.gif

Gutting a DD is a bad idea, yes. I was advising him to ditch whatever he can stand losing - spare tire + jack, or back seats if he doesnt use them.

What you are forgetting is that the economy car weights 2500lbs (2100 for lesser Civics) and your Camaro is well over 3000lbs. Also, I mentioned getting good suspension and tires. I dont have anything against Camaros or muscle cars in general - I like them, I really do, its just that the vast majority of auto enthusiasts associate Civics with fart cans and spoilers. Yes, there are morons out there that think neon underglow is cool. But there are true enthusiasts out there that realize just how much potential a lightweight honda with double-wishbones has. In a straight line no Civic will ever touch an f-body (unless we get into motor swaps but lets leave that conversation for another day). In terms of handling, however, its a different story. Trust me, light weight + stiff suspension + sticky tires = much faster around a bend than you can imagine. Easier to hustle than a Camaro too.

The point of all this is that the OP's Civic Si is a very good car - good mileage, very reliable, very fun to toss around, and can easily be turned into a serious performance car (at least around a corner). I think you should take it out to an autocross and see what it can really do.

First, to back up LeVeL: I don't think anybody would consider the Fiero a particularly good car. But I just got RAPED by them at an autocross event.

Back to the original topic: the Civic SI is a great balance between commuter car and sports coupe. I say you keep it has VTEC, and does exactly what VTEC is supposed to do: balance fuel economy and performance. You can have a lot of fun with a sleeper Civic like that. Keep the rims, lower it on some Tein H's, get that rub strip on the side painted body color, and just have a blast chucking it in and out of corners and getting 35mpg.

The 'i'm an angry Camaro owner' thing is getting a little tired, some ppl don't like it? so what? is that going to detract from your enjoyment of your own car? If insults do affect it, then maybe you have to reeval, but don't drag down someone else's car thread with some bitterness over insults at the expense of your car. all cars (no matter how much we love them) are just mechanical things with 4 wheels that get us around.

Oh i'm sorry, i guess i was insulting his car. Despite everything i said about it being positive and me saying i liked them.

But i guess consoling someone because they no longer have a car they like is a dick move these days. My bad images/smilies/mellow.gif

Ehh you're right to a point, i'm man enough to admit. Its just that in forums like this bashing my car preference is in vouge, and just like someone ridiculing your favorite form of music you tend to let it build and build and sometimes it just lets go. I dont mean to cause problems but its a personal fault of mine to respond to confrontation with more confrontation, and i dont mean any personal insult to you all, who i consider the finest internet community around.

I just love the art of debate too much, and some people have a hard time differentiating this from the instigation of a simple internet argument. Understandably so, being the same thing from your perspective.

Simple version:
I dont mean to be a dick, i just love to debate automotive issues. I actually love you all images/smilies/biggrin.gif I will do my best to not bring it up so much.

EDIT: Took your advice, currently nursing a bottle of jack daniels

Like I said before, I like Camaros. The thing is, most people dont realize that just because some morons like to put soup cans on their mufflers doesnt mean that the car is bad. Civic provide a great foundation; where you go with it is up to you - some get big wings, some get proper mods which turn this eco box into a fantastic car. I am not against you or muscle cars, Im against the fact that people are unaware of the Civic's potential and tend to bash it for being liked by ricers. Just providing some Civic info, thats all.
No hard feelings? images/smilies/smile.gif

Oh, and Jack D is flippin awesome!

I'd trade you our lame, 4-cyl, FWD economy car for yours any day. At least the Civic is competent in some areas.
