Oh, and Jack D is flippin awesome!
No hard feelings at all, just remember that a camaro does happen to have a low stance and big wide tires, mine happens to be equipped with a very sticky compound and certain devices to stiffen the bubblegum frame (a camaro with stock suspension does not exist in the wild). All this means i can go around the corners just fine images/smilies/smile.gif

And yes, jack d does in fact rock.

That is NOT an authentic Si. Could have a b16a swap, but the front lights, bumper, side molding, seats, gauges and rear spoiler are wrong. Plus an Si would already be lowered factory. Thats an ex if I ever saw one. I wanna see pics of the engine.

Si: 1999 and on only.

Edit: EX's also had vtec motors in them, the d16y8 I believe, but its a single overhead cam engine instead of the dohc in the si.

There is a 1968 El Camino for sale at a classic car dealer in Washington called Gio Cars, or something like that for sale with a 450hp 396 in it. Attached to a 4speed. I'm trying to save up for that. Or a Jeep Rubicon.[/QUOTE]

But...hang on, these two have nothing in common images/smilies/tongue.gif

For all you guys that think this isn't an Si, you have to remember, the Si is different in Canada than it is in the states. In Canada the Si is the ONLY model with VTEC, the EX does not have it, where as in the US it does.

I've checked the VIN and everything, it's an Si.

Ya, I have strange taste in vehicles. I'm big into 4x4ing and a Rubicon is one the the best 4x4s you can have out of the box (front and rear lockers from the factory... yummy). But I also like muscle cars.... which is where the El camino fits in.

@ Mattdizzle - I get what you're saying. And I agree to an extent. Level is right, but I hear you. Muslce car growl + presence = better than any tuner car. (sorry tuner cars guys... just my opinion)

Sorry, but most of the guys in CTSubie have the same presence as a muscle car with their STi's. The way they idle and sound under any throttle is breathtaking with that UELH boxer rumble.

I've seen 500 horsepower evo's and sti's at the local street racing meets, i know a lot of work went into them and that they would DESTROY my camaro, but i just chuckle and move on because they look and sound ridiculous images/smilies/lol.gif

I must say any Flat engine sounds good around lower RPM's harder to tell a difference higher up.

But unless you have a really large one or a really small one... I4's usually sound bad.

You may think they look and sound ridiculous but they can still beat you in any race. Stop being such a fan boy and respect performance rather than jumping on the muscle car bandwagon. If you are a poser and like showing your car off and revving the V8 to get girls' attention, go right ahead. If you care about performance first and foremost then stop throwing every import and every 4-cyl car into the stupid-looking-and-sounding-ricer category.

Several things to respond to that:

Muscle car fanboy/Bandwagen:Since when is it popular to like muscle cars these days? I endure ridicule from johnny ricer on one side, and cecil ecomenalist on the other. Ridiculous on one end because the cost/performance scale is tipped solidly in my favor, and ridiculous on the other end becuase my performance car (due to its awesome manual gearbox) gets the same fuel milage as my boring economy box.

Anti import comment: I did say that they would beat me in a race, but remember the oft-neglected price/performance ratio, i dont have $30,000 to spend on a new cam profile or a set of titaninum turbocharger bearings. I put spit, blood and oil into my motor and it does the same thing as a computer-designed 4 banger. (remind me, how much money does it take for a civic to run in the low 11's? I spent less than $3,000 total... including the initial cost of buying the car) There is something to be said for doing the same job with a simpler and cheaper design.

I don't think any of the guys in my club have spent $30,000 on one part of their cars. Most are just guys with an upgraded exhaust and have gone Stage 2. Stock internals, stock turbo. Doesn't take much to get an STi to go MUCH faster. And it's even easier for an EVO. So, I'm throwing your price/performance ratio out.

I just saw this thread. I'm just going to make it slightly worse by saying that the speedo is strangely familiar, it's almost identical to the one in my dad's Rover.

But that's really not a bad car, you're wallet will thank you for getting that insteadof a thirst-mobile. images/smilies/smile.gif

Exactly, but I thought it only shared parts with the UK Civic. Obviously not.

a) You're joking right? Are you seriously suggesting that hardly anyone likes muscle cars? images/smilies/lol.gif
And no, your car doesn't get the same mileage as an econo box. Granted, you will do pretty well on the highway, but overall econo boxes win, hands down, sorry.
Oh, and by bandwagon I didnt mean people that like muscle cars - I mean people that say "oh my big bad muscle car is the SHIT and your stupid import, no matter what it is, is A shit". Im against ignorance here, not muscle cars.

b) $30000? Where did you get that number? And we're kinda comparing apples to oranges here. STi/Evo = great year round, four doors, big trunk, space for five, while Camaro = muscle car. In the end for $3k you can go faster in a straight line (Camaro) OR faster around corners (econo box).

Sad, isn't it. But yes, I'm hoping with the Minimal investment of wheels/tires/stereo I can get what (if not more) than what I payed for it in 6 months time. images/smilies/cool.gif

And Level, respect is given where respect is due. I totally admire the guys that put their heart and soul into any car. Some of those Monster Evos and STIs and Supras out there are fantastic. And I wouldn't pass up having one in a second. But I think (correct me if I'm wrong) what matt is trying to say is that muslce cars are a dieing breed. With rising fuel prices people are looking for more economical ways to go fast. Sure it might cost more, but it's the way the auto industry is heading. When myself and my buddy go to a swapmeet. We are honestly the only people there under 35. Unless of coarse some parent has dragged along their kid. What matt is trying to say is that the younger generation doesn't want a muslce car. They are more into the hi-tech tuners... anyways... when I started writing this I had a point.. but I forget that now, because it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm all hyped up on pop tarts and sugar drank images/smilies/w00t.gif So ima sleep now.

They are more into the hi-tech tuners... anyways... when I started writing this I had a point.. but I forget that now, because it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm all hyped up on pop tarts and sugar drank images/smilies/w00t.gif So ima sleep now.
haha and i couldnt agree more. muscle car kids are dyeing if not already dead. but not me. my camaro is getting its finished 3" out the back on saturday. and my impala will be getting a new monstrosity of a heart when i build up a 327 for it this winter (want around 300 horse) and the side pipes for my impala would of been going on tomorrow but i have to work images/smilies/cry.gif but i do agree that if osmeone puts there hard earned money and time and passion into a car its admirable. but not when they do stupid shit like spoend $200 on a comp cams monster tach for a car that all they did was cut the springs in half and call it a race car.... that just really piusses me off. until i blow passed them in my camaro and they do nothing. that makes me images/smilies/lol.gif

Exactly! Just because there are a lot of Civics out there with "tasteless" modifications doesnt mean that the car is bad, it just means that those owners are tards. Properly modified econo boxes and muscle cars are different approaches to performance - one relies on very little weight, the other on big cubes and wide tires. I never argued that one is better than the other, simply that said big cubes is not the only approach to performance.
Oh, and cut springs dont piss me off one bit - they make me laugh out loud images/smilies/lol.gif

Yeah. Who would have thought I would get SCHOOLED by a couple of Fieros at the autocross in Hartford. The right mods, tastefully done, can make any car good. Even a Yugo.

Though the lack of Fiero interior should have tipped me off...
