Default My Newest: 1991 Ford Ranger

It's a bit of a downgrade from the F-250, but it gets better fuel economy and it's paid for.

I bought it from a friend who had bought it from one my other friends. It's a 2.3 N/A, 5 speed and 162k miles on the clock. It'll do the quarter mile in 19.96 @ 65 mph, so you can't get in a hurry driving it. It'll do everything the old truck will do except haul 6 people and a fully loaded trailer... images/smilies/lol.gif

Well there it is, looks 10 times better in the photos than it actually does. It's got all the usual truck dents, dings and scrapes. It looks better now that I waxed it and got rid of the oxidation.

The first photo is taken in front of a hay field that is untilled prairie. They harvest the hay only once a year.

You do realize that you now need to shove a 2.3 turbo in that thing, right?images/smilies/wink.gif

4 cylinder Rangers and old Toyota Hiluxes have one common bond. You can put 400,000 miles on them, the bodies will rust away, but you just can't kill them.

Where I used to work we had a 2000 Ford Ranger four cylinder; when I left there it had nearly 200,000 miles and the only problem it EVER had was an alternator.

jetsetter,I know it's needs a 2.3 turbo, but it'll have to wait until I get the SVO straightened completely out. I swear every time I get that car fixed something else goes out.

Jayhawk, this one is already starting to rot away. Check out the passenger side above the rear wheel opening and both cab corners... images/smilies/lol.gif

Nice, my diagonal neighbor has the same truck images/smilies/lol.gif

I must ask, what kind of mileage can you get out of it?
I'm still looking for a replacement for the Buick and need a truck or something truck-like that is good on gas.

I got a nice 2.3T shortblock if you like. Low mileage. Cheap.

Night_hawk, I'd guess the mileage around 22-24. I haven't been able to completely fill the tank, run it down and fill up again, yet. There's a fuel leak if you put more than about 6 gallons in it... images/smilies/lol.gif

Starfox, I've got 2 already, but, how cheap is cheap?

I swapped the wheels from the SVO on to it last night while it's down for a fuel pressure problem:

They are '96-'97 wheels, the '94-'95 had silver inserts. I really want to lower it now and get some spacers for the rear...

Next thing you know you'll be putting hydraulics on it.
