Exactly; no loss whatsoever. You don't often get that opportunity.

Would you have to get replacement trim from overseas, or can you just paint or anodize or otherwise treat the existing stuff? On a tangential note, is there such thing as tinted clear coat? I sorta want to turn my car a darker shade of gray, but a good complete respray isn't going to be cheap.

Wow... seeing that car in daylight from that angle... it really looks good.

As for the tinted clear coat... not really, not that I'm aware of. Quote:

Thinking about it and playing with it in Photoshop, actually.

I have to admit, I really miss the newer XJR wheels (I think you should ask them to give you a set since your old one had one) but this one looks to be in pretty decent shape. What are they going to do in terms of engine modifications?

Can't get another set at the dealership; the Jaguar parts system is still in turmoil after the Ford-to-Tata changeover and the inventory system shows no oyster-finish Milans in the warehouses. Looking at getting a used set now, if I can locate them - the dealership paid the retail replacement value for them, so if I can find a set I'll be okay.
For the engine modifications, I gave them my receipt file for the parts and labor, and they included that in the check as well. Like the last one, I'm going to do exhaust, intake, intercooler/heat exchanger, radiator, pulley, chip, and injectors (among other things) which should get me back in the same power ballpark.

I think the closest you'll get is adding a bit of black paint into the clearcoat before spraying. That's what a lot of people who tint taillights use- the clearcoat for protection and finish and the black evenly distributed throughout tints it darker. I'm not sure of the exact process, but the basic idea has been described to me by the people who do it more than once.

You really came out quite well after the crash. Though ofcourse it's a shame about the old car, but the new one looks really nice. And I bet it will look even nicer after the paintjob! Could we get some more interior pics?

Sure, once I clean it up a bit and vacuum it out. Won't be in the next couple of days though - rain's camping out over Dallas.

Clarkson talks about his black X308
That article reminded me, how often do you have to wash/detail your car? I'm guessing it's a bit less rainy over there, but it still must be a bitch to keep clean. |

http://www.calcarduster.com/originalDuster.asp Solves the problem quite nicely. So long as the car is dry, it'll get most of the dust off it. I'm guessing Clarkson doesn't know about it.

That leave scratches and whirls on your paint. Oh well, looking at your cars, it most likely doesn't matter that much, but NEVER take a new car to a carwash..

And as a result of not touching the car they're often rubbish at getting dirt off, unless you can find one that presoaks long enough. They're very good for getting the undercarriage if they have that capability though.

Or if you pull behind most gas stations and use the pre-soak thing. Put .50 cents into the machine, you spray a soapy mixture onto the car, then sit in the carwash line. Most people forgo that step, though... :/
