I actually have a photo documentary type of thing for this car well atleast for the first 4,500km's, then the engine kind of blew up, (no more compression, shooting oil out the exhaust). It is a Subaru after all images/smilies/smile.gif

No cylinder compression? Oil spewing from the exhaust pipe?

Why, that's standard signs for a proper break in!

Thanks again Mani. This makes up for that time when I saw a "never seen rain/mud, always garaged" Wrangler on Craigslist. We can almost feel its pain.

The engine was shot at ~4500km's. Gotta love Subaru quality images/smilies/tongue.gif Lives upto their reputation they've been leading in the past 2-3 years of WRC, always breaking down.

No fault on the drivers side though hahah images/smilies/idiot.gif

I'm thinking it would probably need to be even worse than that. Like maybe he drained out the oil the day he bought it and replaced it with sand.

Really? That is why the main problem with Impreza's are head gaskets? Every GC8 owners nightmare, the head gasket.

That is why the Subaru World Rally team hasn't been able to finish a race in the 2007 season without problems?

Subaru's are fine cars, but no where near being the most reliable car.

Offcourse an engine won't die in 4500km's of normal use, but it doesn't take to mess one up in 4500km's either. In the end its not like it mesed up in 400km's.

Not quite 24/7 but, it had its fare share in the redline.

Not at all... If you want to test my theory, buy a new car and see it, you'll see that it works. How do I know? Been there done that.

A cars worst nightmare is when you don't let it warm up. Sure car manufacturers say it only takes 30 secs bla bla, but that is for just driving to the grocery store. If you don't let the engine warm up (specially in the winter time) and put lots of load on the engine this is what happens.

You guys make an engine seem like it is the most indestructable thing on this planet. It's simple, metal retracts when it is cold, expands when its warm. Use that theory to what I said above and the cylinder of an engine in the block, and tadaa!

So if you know it's bad for the engine, why do it?

If you ask such a question, I bet you've never driven a car to destruction.

Was I the only one here, who used to smash up his matchbox cars with hammers when ever I got bored or what?

Probably and a $20-$30k car is hardly a matchbox.

Remember the classic 'Mach 5'? 'Twas all about smashing matchbox cars.
