BLOODY HELL, 2kb per sec with 50 billion ppl sharing and seeding.

WTF is going on? Never use to have this problem before till about 4/5 weeks ago, ive forwarded my ports, tried a whole bunch of ports but still cant seem to change shit. And its only for TopGear, i can download everything else quite fine @ 400kb+, only topgear, for the past 4 weeks i couldnt get to watch TG on sunday, i have to wait for almost 2 full days before the episode will finish downloading.

btw, the first tracker seems to be down, according to my pathetic utorrent.

please help me.

like i said, never had a problem with top gear before, only started recently, i cant seem to connect to many trackers, especially the finalgear one. it always fucks out for me.

Actually, open less connections. Too many will actually make your torrents come to a crawl.

dont think so, cos i can download other stuff 100% fine.

ive forwarded my ports about 2 weeks ago, and since then my bt speed has been a constant 400kb. Ive got no problem with sites like racing-underground.com, TopGear is the only one im having problem with, and since its the most important one, its kind of rashing me to no end.

tried the patch, tried to change my connection to 80.

nothing works, in fact.. its even slower now.. dropped from 10kb down to 2kb

I run 75 global, 50 per torrent connections and I max out my 1.5mbit line.

And remember, BitTorrent operates on a give to those who give. If you aren't uploading, you'll download slow.

i always upload, but the uploading speed doesnt pick up, nor does the download speed.. everything is just kind of ..... dead.

Its just with Top Gear, everything else works fine. Im having with tracker problem, cant connect to most finalgear trackers.

Wait a few days instead of trying to get the torrent as soon as it's released. It's always slow on Sunday.

When you think back to the basics of how bittorrent works, you can solve this conundrum quite easily.

Seeders: People finished with the download, who are only uploading it to others.
Leechers: People simultaneously downloading and uploading parts of the file.

Since everyone tries to get the new top gear episode at the same time on Sunday, the leecher count goes through the roof. However, since only a few people already have the file downloaded, there are only a few seeders. The seeders can only upload so fast to so many people, and the leechers often throttle down their upload speed to increase available bandwidth for the download.

Thus, you have the very simple answer to the question.
"Why are Top Gear torrents so damn slow?"

Simply not enough upload speed to go around.

Simply not enough upload speed to go around.

When downloading the latest torrents, I normally start the download just as I leave for work, then kill the max upload speed from 150 K/s down to around 30 K/s when I get home from work, about 8 hours later.

Why not just start the torrent, walk away for a few hours, and come back and watch Top Gear?
