Default Problems with UTorrent

I was tired of using BitComet because of repeated hashfails and rubbish and wasted data downloaded that stucked my Downloads, but now it has happened with UTorrent too. In the FAQ of UTorrent I found this:

"I get tons of hashfails on my torrents, and the torrent never finishes (D-link routers, any other router with game mode DMZ)

If you gets lots of hash fails on your torrents with a D-Link router, make sure DMZ mode isn't on. The DMZ mode in this router (called game mode) mangles packets and causes corruption like this, preventing you from completing a torrent. "

The problem is that I don't know what is that "D-Link" Router or where to check if that DMZ mode is on or off.

By the Way, I use the Latest version released.

Thanks for your Help. images/smilies/sad.gif

A D-Link router is just a brand of router like Linksys or Belkin.
If you have that make router then the DMZ settings are on the routers main settings. To access this you usually type an IP address in you browser. It is normally 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1 or something similar.

I got another local router, Is there any "game mode" in other routers? Where can you usually access its settings? Sorry about my ignorance.

A bit of a list of common router Ip's for changing accesing their settings.(some models may differ)
D-Link - 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
Linksys - 192.168.1.1
Belkin - 192.168.2.1
US Robotics - 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1
Netgear - 192.168.0.1
Buffalo - 192.168.11.1
Zyxel - 192.168.1.1

(To find yours type your brand and/or model name along with 192.168 into Google. Should be easy to find then)

It should say right on the router who makes it. images/smilies/wink.gif

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

I'm also getting hash fails with no router at all.. images/smilies/yucky.gif

just a simple USB modem going straight to my comp.. not sharing it , or networked at all..

Have used ABC, Azureus, Utorrent, Shadow's Beta client, BitLord.. but it's not a constant thing .. can D/L fine, then hash fails left right and centre on a random torrent.. but the next 20 or so torrents are fine..

Theres likely to be a firewall built into the USB modem. You may need to find how to adjust its settings.
