why does my bit-torrent download at 2 kbps when i am connected to 28 peers and 20 seeds, and the total speed is suppost to be 661 kbps?

anyone know, will i slow it down when i seed?

Um...from the 11/7/04 thread..i'm getting slow speeds as well...i see only 7 seeds with 16 KB upload...useing BitComet looking in for 6881...behind router and firewall but i opened the 6881 pot on both of them

by uploading as much as you can you are slowing down your downloads.
find out how fast your client uploads at average, lets say 30 KB/s.
Then you should set your upload speed to 26-28 KB/s to allow overhead traffic to arrive in time.


BTW: can you use Azureus and check if the same problem occurs with that client?


BTW2: what's your IP? (i only need to know the 3 first parts like 195.240.73.x)
this way i can probabely check if my client can connect to yours.

ISPs have found a way to slow BT down. The technology is called traffic mapping.

traffic shaping actually.
to avoid that, try non-standard ports.
ports that you should try first: port 80. If your ISP doesnt block it, this should get you definately the highest speed.
if that doesnt work, try port 8080.
and as a last shot, try anything between 5000 and 65000.

and ofcourse you should always use port-forwarding if you have a router and/or open that in your firewall.
