Default Sound and picture out of sequence

Hi all,

I've downloaded all of season 10 so far but when i go play an episode on my PC the sound is not in time with the picture. I've tried it on Windows Media Player 10 and Realplayer.

Any ideas ?

Thanks !!

I'm having to same synch issues when using Nero to convert the .avi to an mpeg-2 so I can put it on my Tivo. My old single CPU Dell D600 laptop encodes perfectly, but my spiffy new D820 -- while 4x faster -- loses audio sync over time. Has anyone had this issue?

The audio is compressed with a variable bitrate. This results in smaller size and better quality.

The problem is that some re-encoders have issues with it. Check Nero versions, drivers, etc. between the two PCs.

Steve, if you just want a simple conversion with burn to DVD without fancy menu's then DVD Flick works fine for me.
I have also used Avi2Dvd and Any Video Converter but DVD Flick is just 'click and forget'. Load a DVD into the burner, load your avi's into the app, click Create DVD and go and do something else! images/smilies/cheers.gif
Two other useful sites are Afterdawn and VideoHelp.

I've had sync issues with Nero - it's one of the reasons I don't use it. Instead I use Mainconcept Mpeg Encoder - though it's not as easy to use as Nero.

I'll give some of those a try -- my only real use is encoding Top Gear / 5th Gear to MPEG-2 so I can transfer it to my Tivo -- I never burn anything to DVD or anything else.

i use WinAVI for this job. it doesn't burn the disc (i use DVDshrink for that, because they always need compressing). gives you framerates and the ability to watch the video live.

I'll take a look at WinAVI, but I did set up Avi2DVD and, once I forced it to use 4:3 aspect instead of 16:9, it gave me brilliantly synced MPEG-2 files for my Tivo. It's a bit clunky, and I've noticed that Windows Media Player crashes trying to play the files (although Nero ShowTime works fine, as does the Tivo), but I'm just thrilled to have something that works!
