Recently I have been having torrent troubles, for the last top gear I got 25kb/s while the previous ones I had ~200kb/s.
Lately I have had torrent speeds stuck around the 20s, while I can get direct download around 250kbs. Is there any idea on how to make this faster, currently I have something being downloaded at 20kb/s with 40 seeds (2000 are shown in brackets). I do not have a firewall up or anti-virus software, nor any program running when it is on. Am I doing something wrong or is a trick to make them go faster than a snail? |

Based on your location, I'm guessing your on Shaw or Rogers, yes? They'll definitely be screwing you over. If you're on Rogers, protocol encryption won't help because, as absurd and stupid as it sounds, they throttle ALL encrypted traffic, no matter what the protocol.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, do me!!!
And torrent problems could just be random torrents being lazy. I know sometimes i can't get good speeds off 1000 seeds, but only a handful would get me to 10 mbps. ![]() |

I'm on Shaw... what does that mean? I haven't experienced any troubles with torrents?

It doesn't necessarily have to do with ISP. I have Rogers, and I haven't noticed a drop off in speed of torrents. It really depends on the torrents in particular. Some of my torrents go crazy fast, while some torrents go at a snail's pace even with lots of seeders.

Top Gear has always been slow for me using torrents. Never figured out why, yet my porn goes at like 100-500kps, my anime too.

'cause people are selfish leechers who throttle their upload speeds like crazy!

I never had a problem with utorrent and downloading TG.... until now.
It could be wireless connection, and I'm going to try fixing that, but even after doing all the encryption stuff in uTorrent it's still going at less than 20 KB/s. =/ Does upload speed really make that much of a difference? I usually set mine at 5 KB/s because if I increase it anymore and the internet lags and craps out, my roommate starts bishing at me and I don't like getting his spit on my face. I increased it to 10 KB/s now and am going to see if it makes a diff. Edit: Viper thanks a lot buddy. I don't know if its because the seeds had increased slightly but I'm downloading now at more than 175 KB/s. I think all those fixes on that website helped it out.
