At over 100 bucks though, even the manuals are expensive. images/smilies/blink.gif

That should do it, the suspension is basicly the same, most parts except for the rear wishbones (different length) are exactly the same.

What do you want to do? I replaced suspensions on at least 10 e34/e32s, they are very common to wear out and need to be replaced completely every 150.000kms.

I need to replace the control arms and thrust arms/bushings, I found a half decent scan and printed it all out. What kind of special tools would you need for that cuz i want to do this on my driveway rather than taking it to a garage

You need a "conejoint dismantling?" tool, sth. like that:

http://www.inox-schrauben.de/ebay/c182.jpg

And of course a toolbox with metric nuts and set with regular spanners. For the front you do require a 19mm set, for the rear a 22mm. You also need to dismantle the front strut from the base plate ( http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...48&hg=31&fg=05 in between the 2 twelves). Besides that it is rather easy.

Make sure that you fasten the bolts (Part 15 and 9) on the body when the car is standing on its wheels (position the car usually is in while driving), otherwise the new rubber joints will break within a few days.

The front bolts require 89Nm, the rear 122Nm, the bolts on the base plate 110Nm.

Gotta get new struts, IIRC. Or convert to conventional shocks which is much cheaper.

Right now we are talking about the rear, and as far as I know there is only one aftermarket supplier (Sachs) for them and they are bloody expensive. The same are sold by BMW.

Not as easy as it seems, because the hydraulic system is powered by the power steering pump which runs in the same circuit. If you replace them with regular absorbers the hydraulic circuit needs to be closed (insert a loop)or the steering pump has to be replaced by another one that does not have the joints for the self leveling system.
