Also, for the record, you can test starters on your own by hooking some jumper cables to it. You can do it with the starter still attached to the car even but I dont think that's very smart in most cases.

I've been through 3 starters on the Mustang in the last 5 years (lifetime warranty makes it so much easier, and yes, they don't make them like they used to, stupid reman units), so it doesn't surprise me at all the starter failed and made only a click.
