Ford Focus 1.6 Ti-VCT (RIP)

When the new Focus goes on sale next year (in Europe), the current 1.6 Ti-VCT (115ps) engine will cease to exist and the only 1.6 on offer will be the 99hp version that is also used in the fiesta. Does anyone know why they're dropping this engine as compared to the 99hp 1.6, it is more economical and quicker to 60mph....

That's strange, according to the pricelist the engine is available in Germany.

I think that they are pushing the new ECONETIC range of engines for Focuses. EDIT/ (or is it Focii?)

I don't think they will drop that engine I just read the CAR magazine review of the Focus and they specifically talked about the 1.6 TI.

Don't scare me like that!!! I was going to buy a new Focus with the 1.6 TI engine next year!!!

I've downloaded the e-brochure for the new Focus from the Ford website and it isn't listed on there - go to http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/focmca/-/sb...a_ebro/-/-/-/- if you dont believe me.

Every review i've read of the new focus doesn't mention the Ti-VCT engine - it just seems a bizarre choice to drop it as on paper at least, its better than the 99hp 1.6 in pretty much every way

Maybe they just dropped it in the UK, continental Europe still seems to have it, at least Germany (and usually the ranges of available engines do not differ). And it is also listed on the www.ford.es

I hope so!!! That's why I was so puzzled when I first read this post. I've read that the 1.6 Ti it's really fun to drive. Any opinions about it?

I'm really looking forward to have one of those next year.
