Well, it seems my brick has decided to throw me some trouble with the first cold snap of the season.
Yesterday, driving home from my boss's house I turned off the road I was on (braking, clutch in, engine revving low) and the whole steering started to shudder. At first I thought maybe it was the crappy North Dakota roads, but at the next right hand turn it happened again. And again when I turned into my apartment lot. I checked the power steering fluid, a little low, but not too low. I put some fluid into her today, but she's still acting up. So, basically I want to see if there's something I can do before I have to lay down the funds for a new power steering pump or other expensive parts. Is this something that perhaps the cold season has wrought upon my car (it only got really cold on Monday/Tuesday here, and has been wet and 40's/50's all week.) I haven't been doing much driving outside of getting around town; though I did do a 2 hour round trip the other day. My Volvo was running fine the same morning this happened, so I don't know at this point.

Does it shudder when turning and braking or will it do while only braking? Does it have any vibration while driving?

Edit Poked around a bit, seems it may just be my power steering belt getting loose or worn. I'll probably play with it or replace it tomorrow or whenever I get the chance. Thankfully, I have a spare.

Can you heel-toe? Try giving the engine some revs while braking with the clutch pedal down and see if giving it power makes a difference. Could be a vacuum issue? I don't know much about PS but just throwing out ideas.
