    BMW Gullwing Turbo

I have always thought the Bracq 1972 Gullwing was a nice looking and more interesting car, than the later Giugiaro e26 M1. With an uprated 2002 Turbo engine (200 hp) BMW said it could do 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds and 155 mph. So not much slower than the M1. It also introduced the raised hood...

    BMW e39 M5

For anyone that enjoyed that M5 and the pre Chris Bangle cars, this is a nice coffee table book. Those 3 to 5 liter V8s of the 1990s were sweet revving, as long as the Nikasil bore coating didn't peel off!::mrgreen: Classic 5 series - No Bangle

Some interesting C4 Corvette performance figures

I came across these UK magazine test times. I think they are interesting in terms of what a showroom car can do, given that Corvettes and other fast cars tested by Car and Driver, Road & Track etc. are often prepared, even though magazines request normal cars. I recall Car and Driver's 30,000...

    Future of the Inline 6?

On the one hand it's a long engine, not suited to front drive, transverse cars. On the other for improved emissions and economy turbo modular inline sixes are replacing V8s in some cars (BMW), and these engines can be made into inline 4s and 3s!. So will the inline six stay in trucks, or make a...

The great Eddy Mercx was riding for a Stella Artois sponsored team, and the team car was the e12 BMW 525. Probably the first BMW to be used in the Tour de France. Tour de France 1975 Video 5-er

    What Killed The Cimarron?

Looking at this comparison report with the BMW 325e and the Mercedes 190E, the little Caddy comes out not too bad. Even 30 years ago the German car buyer would never have considered a Caddy, regardless of how good it was. Originally conceived as a BMW 320i & Audi 4000 import fighter, on basic...

    Crossfire & TBI distinction...if any?

I have heard the terms used interchangeably, but what is the tech difference between F body Crossfire and TBI on humble 4 cylinder cars like Cimarron, Fiero etc.? Also, what kind of spec changes existed between Corvette and F body Crossfire? Thanks.:? Firebird T/A Iron Duke

    The cars that time forgot...

Either they didn't get the credit they deserved, or have become forgotten since their heyday. I think the 1984 C4 falls into that category. As fast as an original Jag XKE, or Ferrari Dino 246 GTS (7 secs 0-60 mph, 140 mph), but don't get much love. Similarly, there were the blown Y block Fords...

    BMW e28 M5 & M535i

I have been reading EVO magazine (2013 May issue) article "Icon BMW M5 (E28)" Will scan and put the page links up if anyone wants me to? Anyway, I think the M5 gets all the attention, and the 2 valve e12 & e28 M535i deserve more than they get. I think many don't realize that the 2 valve cars...

    Mini Marcos

Many know the Mini, not so many the Mini Marcos. It was an affordable fiberglass sportscar based on the humble Mini. It had some racing success and being Mini related could have Cooper tune. It overcame the Mini's great propensity to rust! Speeding on You Tube Mini Marcos cartoon

Gremlin, the lil' hot rod, lol. :)

Gremlin had a stronger body than Vega or Pinto. Better build up potential as a small hi performance car, and quite good looking before the 1973/74 impact bumpers came. Gremlin 401-XR

Fastest 4 seater in 1975 America?

With stats of 0-60 mph in under 9 seconds and top speed of 120 mph were the Trans Am 455 and BMW 530i 4 speeds, the fastest full 4 seater cars in 1975? I can't think of any others.:| Firebird T/A BMW 530i

    Fave Vette gen?

I think the C3 is the best of all time. It had the biggest motor (454ci), longest run (1968-82) and the most made (53,000 in 1979). Which one do you like, and why? Endura nose C3 in video
