Ownership Verified: Oh no, they've got another one - leviathan's MX-5 NC

No-one probably remembers this from a while back: I used the spare key for over a year now and have almost forgotten about the original :) But since I am now planning to possibly move apartments, I finally needed to get the damn thing out of there. Luckily another one of the local MX-5 club's...

Swisstaly mini-Roadtrip 2019, attempt number two

So I took an evening, went through Mikko's planned routes in the sheet, and mapped everything out in ABRP for making the drive in the Tesla. Results for almost every day are something like this: These aren't even all available chargers, only higher-powered ones (CCS with 50+ kW). And I'll...

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

An opportunity presented itself to take the car for a company trip down to our Munich head office. Usually everybody takes the train, but I hate those things :) and it's a decent test of "long-range" drivability. I've done the route more than a couple times in my previous cars. Overall, I'm...

The Aviation Thread [Contains Lots of Awesome Pictures]

This is the kind of stuff that'll eventually get me to shell out a lot of money and time to get a PPL, and enough hours to eventually check out in one of these. Designed with "alternative propulsion" in mind... modern electric drive + super low drag of a flying wing = very low operating cost...

Ownership Verified: wdwben's 2012 MX-5 PRHT (yup, another one)

A new clutch might be in the future for my NC, as well. The bite point has been weird from the beginning, some forum peeps who drove it on last year's roadtrip can confirm :) Also I might be imagining things, but I believe to feel some slight slippage when accelerating hard from a standstill in...

Ownership Verified: Oh no, they've got another one - leviathan's MX-5 NC

Went out for another tour with the local MX-5 club. Some 20-ish cars, nice roads, and radios - roadtrip feeling was slightly re-awakened, only missing the driving style :P How do you take an elevated picture of a large group when no-one has a drone? That's right, get a tractor. So yeah...

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

Took the car in for the first service appointment. Things were done: Reason for the visit: non-working third brake light diagnosed, cable plugged in (how do they even...) Wheel alignment checked and found OK. Also checked logs for signs of above-normal consumption, since it seems a bit high to...

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

Not at home at the moment, but there's a 11kW AC charger at work that I can use free of charge. And there are a bunch of public chargers around where I live (including fast-ish DC), closest two are ~10 minutes from home by foot - already left the car overnight there once. Will definitely be...

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

The weather really cleaned up a lot over the weekend, and earlier today I was able to take a couple better shots of the Model 3: I must say, the more I look at it, the more I'm happy I went for the white paint. I've seen all other colors of the Model 3 by now, and white just works best of...

Just for you, my expressively German friend, the boring by-the-rules proofpic

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

Obligatory proof pic, late night meta version: I believe you're coming to the Alpine roadtrip this year? If all works out, so am I - with this thing. If we're disregarding the "be within sight of the car when calling shotgun" rule, then I believe @thomas called it a couple years ago at a...

Ownership Verified: The wait was long enough: leviathan's Tesla Model 3 Performance

Three years ago, I stood in line outside a small store in downtown Frankfurt to place a reservation on a car, with a bunch more excited people: We didn't know what it would look like. Only a few key facts were given: the base version would cost 35k$, it would be a sedan slightly smaller than...

Ownership Verified: Wake me up once your turbo spooled up - Meet Scotty, D-Fence's supercharged Mini

I approve of the tire choice. Have the Ventus V12 Evo2 on the NC, they are damn good for the money. Also approve of the engine bay decoration :P

    Random thoughts.... [Tech Edition]

Also had/have a bunch of older Dell IPS in 24" 1080p at work. Can't say anything bad about them - colors are good, they work reliably with our fairly diverse laptop portfolio, the works. For newer 1440p monitors the IT have gone for the Lenovo P24h-10, those are awesome - very thin bezels...

Ownership Verified: Meet Karl - 1974 Opel Rekord

I'm in the "keep the hubcaps" camp, not a big fan of bare steelie look. Either way, really looking forward to seeing Karl alongside Lucille at this year's Ringmeet :) The diversity in car choices is one thing I really enjoy in this community.

Ownership Verified: The horse has bolted. Meet the Pferdchen!

Very useful feature when you're chased by helicopters. Definitely something Clarkson would highlight in a review.

Ownership Verified: Wake me up once your turbo spooled up - Meet Scotty, D-Fence's supercharged Mini

Slightly offtopic here :) But you really don't want PLA parts in the interior (or the exterior for that matter) of a car. They work well, but will disintegrate in direct sunlight and/or summer interior heat almost immediately, losing all shape. Gotta be ABS or PETG for actually usable parts...

Ownership Verified: Oh no, they've got another one - leviathan's MX-5 NC

More mildly uninteresting updates :) Just picked the car up from it's bi-yearly TÜV. Was worried they'd find something I don't know about, but nope - came back completely clean, not a single issue. Quite happy. Some time before that (actually back in December I think) had the brake fluid and...

Very nice, looking forward to a test drive on the Alpine roadtrip :)

Ownership Verified: The horse has bolted. Meet the Pferdchen!

Very interesting choice, and it looks really good! Looking forward to some comfortable rides at the Ringmeet. Or maybe shoot me a message next time you come around Frankfurt :) Smoker car... I would definitely let a specialist handle that, and one with good recommendations at that. The smell...
