Food! [The thread that started this section]

Borscht and Doro Wat for dinner tonight. interesting combo but my mom makes both equally awesomely.

Does anyone know what the spicy pepper juice/sauce/dressing that goes on Italian subs is? I'm not sure if it is a sauce or a dressing or just peppers leaking juices that make me think there is a sauce but I cannot figure it out properly via google.

From where? Subway? Probably a mix of the Italian dressing plus some generic hot sauce?

Possibly mixed with juices from peperoncinis? I haven't seen that in Canada but in the US quite a few places put whole peperoncinis in their Italian subs.

Back when I made Italians at my parents store, we just used an Italian salad dressing, but that was over 25 years ago. I'm sure that the recipe has changed a bit since then, and places are using all sorts of vinaigrettes. As far as I know, there's no one set recipe for Italians - it varies from place to place. Your best bet would be to ask somebody at the shop you go to.

They had a bag of dried crabs, like the ones Jezza ate. I couldn't do it.

The bag had pictures of cartoon turtles on it.

Here is something that I throw together from time to time and really love ... It?s a (more or less) veggie-roll. Takes half a minute to do (and 20-25 minutes in the oven).

Ingredients: Basically whatever you can imagine in a roll. I use frozen Butter-veg most of the time, some cheese, some sauces that I have lying around and some bacon-cubes or salami for that little bit of meat that just makes it 5times better ... oh, and of course fresh puff pastry dough.

Throw it all together on the Dough, season slightly, fold (or roll, whatever you like better), and put it into the oven

20 something minutes later ... profit.
