During a vacation to Istanbul, Israel and Jordan, I saw one of the Istanbul Derbies (GS-Besiktas) at the Ali Sami Yen stadium. I'd always liked them a little and was amused by their presence in FIFA games, but watching them play was really exciting. Plus they have a great atmosphere and their fans are dedicated and ferociously loyal, but always welcoming to a newer fan like myself. Been supporting them since.

Galatasaray looked fantastic until this week. Two draws with teams they should have clobbered. Suddenly Europa League Group F looks more interesting.

Tragic. He was in good standing to be Germany's keeper for the World Cup.

That news was shocking indeed. I guess he had his reasons, and we are to respect his decision. Rest in Peace, Robert Enke.

It's a tragedy for his family and friends - it doesn't matter that he was a sport celebrity competing to be on the national team.
