    Anyone have a Logitech G500? Or a G9?

I'm looking to replace my G5 (scroll wheel is going out -- it always scrolls when I attempt to use it's button) and am considering a G500.

I'm mostly concerned about middle click and wondering if the scroll wheel has a left and right function like the G5 does (I use those as back and forward).

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

A friend of mine has one, he seems very pleased with it so far. I'll ask him about the scroll. What does it do, a sort of left/right click?

Yes the G500 do have side to side on the scroll wheel. Pretty sure Setpoint has the necessary features to use the scroll wheel for forward and back. If not, which I doubt, there are two side buttons instead of one that acts as forward and back as well.

Scroll wheels should have 3 buttons -- down, left, and right. It's for side scrolling technically, but I rebound it in Setpoint as the G5 only has a single side button.

The G500 has 3 side buttons though, so I may just go back to using those if I get it. We'll see.

I only see a left arrow, no right arrow which is why I got confused. It also has the toggle of smooth vs. bumpy scrolling and on my laptop's mouse, that means no side scrolling.

No, there is a right arrow. We are talking about the scroll wheel right? And its ability to go side to side?

Oh, it's sneaky hiding against the bright right mouse button.

And yes, that's what I'm talkin about. The left and right scroll buttons.

It looks just like the wheel on my MX1100, which does scroll in all directions, and can switch between smooth and clicky scroll.

Read some Amazon reviews. The G500 is just the next generation G5 with improvements (more buttons, improved shape, etc.)

    So, I just bought it.
