I´ve made a photo of the problem. Suddenly last week a horizontal line on my TFT went dead and is now always visible. I guess this is not something repairable (or is it?).
![]() I can live/work with this for now. BUT, anyone here know if that means the whole monitor is about to die? Is it going to get worse? I´m asking because I´ve come across a good offer for a new one that I would fancy and could pick up this week only ... but if this doesn´t mean my Monitor will die soon, I´d rather wait another year (or so) and then buy something new (I´ll be moving next year and don´t know jet all the details and rather pick up something new after I moved to fit the new situation than buy something now that might not fit then). So, Doctor. Tell me! Is it fatal?!

If it's that white line, I believe it's horizontal. The same thing's started happening on my iPod, so I'm curious to see what can be done as well.

that's ok.In any case I think I have to replace my iPod screen. I may just back it up and buy a new Nano like I've been meaning to before I go pulling it apart....but hope your screen gets sorted

I will preplace my monitor sooner or later too ... but like I said ... I´d rather do it later and would be happy if someone could ensure me that this won´t inevitabily lead to

With my last TFT I had a different problem (darker area in a corner, looked like some fluid got lost or whatever), but that has survived unchanged for a year or so until I wanted something slightly (a lot) larger.
17"? Really? That alone is a reason to upgrade

But my girlfriend told me size doesn´t matter.
![]() ![]() I have a seperate Tv and for that bit of gaming/surfing/writing I do at home, I don´t really need anything bigger - and when I bought it, I couldn´t afford anything bigger (that 17inch came about 300 Euros when I got it, 19inch startet at something like 400 Euro). But the good offer I am looking at now would be a 22 widescreen, so I am planning on going up 2 sizes anyway. Just not now If I don´t have to ...

I've heard of dead pixels coming unstuck but I don't know about a whole row. I have a dead bug stuck under the top layer of my monitor, it's annoying me and there's no way to get it out without dismantling the entire monitor.

One line of dead pixels won't lead to the complete self destruction of the panel. My Laptop display has had a stuck green line of pixels for 6 months and the rest of it works fine.

That sounds promising ... I mean, nothing happend in the last 5 days and it still works ... I guess I´ll skip the good offer for a new one for now ...
