Default The next thing to go wrong with my new computer

the DVD-drive.

Just after I got my screen from a month long repair my dvd-driver stop reading discs. The only one it regocnized was Assasins Creed which was the last one I used until I had stop using my computer for said repair.

Any tricks to find out what really is wrong before I have to take back to the store?

DVD drives aren't really all that repairable. Is it IDE or SATA? If my DVD drive quits, its time for me to spend 25 bucks and get a new one.

Uninstall and reinstall it for a start, it's unlikely that it's broken completely. Is it just a DVD reader or a writer too. If it's a writer what software do you use? My DVD writer won't read my C&C3 disc, but my ROM drive below it reads it no problems. That has something to do with Windows Explorer and my Roxio Drag-To-Disc.

30 euros this costs so about 40 dollorsch. Not that I couldnt buy I knew one, its just frustrating and its still could get it repaired for free at the store which is time consuming.

To reinstall it, go into device manager, find the DVD drive, right click > uninstall then click 'scan for new hardware changes'. If it was a bad driver this should fix it. DVD vidoes could just be down to codecs or software. Like WMP11 won't play any DVD on my PC, but PowerDVD does with no problems.
