Klipsch makes some awesome home theater speakers. I have their cheapest Quintet speakers and they sound better than the old Bose Lifestyle 25 (about nine years old now) system.

I think I bought the white ones on eBay for about $300 or $400, I can't remember. I paid just about the same amount for my subwoofer, a JBL 12" Northridge series.

no offence, but those ipod docks/speakers are just gimmicks, sound quality (if you can even call them sound quality) on those are a complete joke.

computer speakers at that price will only get you two basic paper-cone speakers and a over-boomy woofer, might be a good thing if you like rap type of music. but sound quality wise... sound balance, coloration, detail, soundstage ect are completely out of the question

at around $100, I strongly suggest some decent headphones that are easy to drive and requires no external headphone-amp.. Audio-Technica ATH-A500 and Grado SR80 (go to "Headphones" > "SR 80") are definitly some of the best around this price range because both of those are extremely easy to power and both have more "colored" sound signature that are much more suitable for most headphone newbies images/smilies/tongue.gif
What don't you understand, I wanted the most acceptable 100 dollar SPEAKERS!!!!!!!! So i could have SPEAKERS and not be wired to my iPod when I am in my room, I have been thinking about getting new headphones in the 100-200 dollar range and building myself an amp so in that case what do you recommend I spend my money on?

I just bought the harman/kardon soundsticks and they are around your price range. They're not exactly the greatest sounding speakers for $100 but DAMN, do they look nice. Other than looks, they do have that warm JBL-ish
sound that everyone likes.

Considered those, but they were 75 dollars more, but they do look good, I ended up getting the creature II speakers and I love the sound to price ratio!

I saw the creatures too, but it was only $50 more and you do get 4 times more drivers(8) and plus, the subwoofer looks far cooler.
