![]() In 5 hours or so... its on their homepage, its what all OCers and hardcore PC fanatics have been waiting for, the next great benchmark system by Futuremark. By the time ppl reply to this thread, it will probably be ready for download. Expect some pathetic scores as all Futuremark benchmark programs are extremely demanding on the hardwares. http://www.futuremark.com/3dmarkvantage/ It won't be available to XP users, it's time to move along and upgrade to Vista.

| Lazy Head Dude | Ah, you got my hopes up. ![]() That's hardly an upgrade. More like a downgrade in terms of load times, etc.

And why don't you try dual boot, have XP and Vista... just for the fun of it?

| Lazy Head Dude | Don't wanna pay for a legal copy or deal with the hassle of an illegal OS.

| Yay, a new way of measuring exactly how crappy my PC is! But alas, I don't have Vista, so I won't be using it. | |

| fucking hell. you need SP1 on top of Vista. btw, the actual installation file isn't that big, its 470mb. Downloading speed was quite good, around 750kb/sec or so. edit - nevermind, you dont need sp1 to run it. Got it working even though it asked for SP1. ![]() Anyway, this new 3DMark redefines what lag is all about. It uses DirectX 10 only, so it stresses the GPU like you can not imagine. First test absolutely raped my pc, couldn't even get more than 15fps, it's a nice rendering of a chic being chased by a bunch of soldiers with laser guns. This all happened inside a cave, it made my pc lagged like shit, was quite painful to watch. Second test is a bit better, got around 20fps or so. Test render was quite cool. Scene is set in the space, with thousands of space jets firing missiles on a giant planet, blowing everything up. Nice to watch, and doesn't lag as much. Third test is just a bunch of old war planes flying around, I guess it tests the CPU, cos my PC wasn't lagging that much. Fourth and Final test was the worst of all. Massive lag, my PC was heavily punished and couldn't even get more than 5fps. It uses some hectic physics engine to test a whole bunch of planes flying around, kind of the like 3rd test, but much more stressful on the pc. Result isn't good : ( ![]() ![]()

Car: 2004 Saturn ION Redline Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() | Wow that is a harsh test...lol I didn't fair to good [albeit it better than I orginally thought]. My system is very very slightly overclocked [well actually I just use the nTune to OC it slightly when I do something demanding (Demanding Profile) and then leave it at factory settings for everything else (Normal Profile) ]. Not the best way of doing it, but for how often I using the Demanding Profile and how little it actually OC's, I'm not that worried about it. I didn't build my computer to crush these tests, but more to run things now while not costing me a bunch (starting from scratch since I previously had a laptop...lol) ![]() ![]() ![]()
