Default Asus WL-700gE Router, built-in BitTorrent client, 160GB HDD

Asus has announced the WL-700gE wireless router, which packs in a 160GB hard drive and an integrated iTunes/BitTorrent client, so you can keep your downloads going, but turn your computer off. That's right. It can handle up to seven BitTorrent streams automatically (in addition to 10 FTP or web streams), with your computer happily napping away in the other room. The files are stored on the on-board hard drive for later retrieval, as the WL-700gE doubles as a network storage device.

Other stuff you should know - it rocks five Ethernet ports, 64/128 bit WEP, and can take on a "RAID configuration with another drive." Pricing and availability have not yet been announced.

That's just brilliant! (atleast I think so)

It's USD$260 at Newegg, which is a bit dear, but it does seem to be quite an elegant solution.

I just leave the computer in my room on 24/7 instead. images/smilies/lol.gif

Man... Thats freaking brilliant! I'd love to have that. I just need my next ISP to get that... Doubt it will happen, since I'm gonna get that in a month or so.

Woah! I was really set on that thing, but as it turns out, you need an additional modem for that...
Gonna stay with the Fritzbox Fon thats gonna come with the ISP change... It can be somehow modded to be a torrent downloader as well... images/smilies/wink.gif nice...

Even though I'm usually not to keen on ASUS, I think most of their productd are rubbish. This new multifunction router thing is very clever. I would probably consider buying one more, but I've just recently bough a Linksys router.

In reality, all you need are some basic networking skills to have the network HDD, just like what's built-in to that. images/smilies/wink.gif Using the ASUS would probably be safer, though, I'd presume.
