Default ATi 5.13/nVidia 81.89 : Final Release for 2005

ATI CATALYST Drivers v5.13 [Dec 22nd]

ATI has released new ATI Catalyst drivers bringing them up to version 5.13.

The package contains:
RADEON display driver 8.203,
Multimedia Center 9.08,
Catalyst Control Center 5.13 (requires .NET Version 1.1 Framework), HydraVision Basic Edition 3.25.9006,
Remote Wonder 3.02,
WDM versions 8.20 and 4.07 and
Southbridge/IXP Driver.

Issues Resolved in Catalyst Software Suite 5.13:

-F.E.A.R: Slow game performance is no longer noticed when using CrossFire. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21270

-The Video Preview no longer fails to change to its default settings when swapping the display mappings using the Catalyst Control Center. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21174

-Attempting to stretch the display horizontally using the Catalyst Control Center, no longer results in the horizontal stretch mode failing to be applied unless the display is stretched vertically first. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21175

-The PowerPlay option found in the Catalyst Control Center no longer defaults to the enabled state after initial install of the display driver for systems containing an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series product. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21180

-Auto-detect no longer fails to be applied as the default setting for the Deinterlacing option when first entering the Video aspect page of the Catalyst Control Center. Currently the option is set as Weave. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21185

-Catalyst Control Center: Attempting to extend the desktop display when using a CRT, TV and DFP display devices no longer results in display corruption being noticed on the primary display adapter. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-20982

-Attempting to set the CRT as the primary display device after hot-plugging a DFP display device and enabling extended desktop mode, no longer results in the CRT failing to be set as the primary. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21269

-Catalyst Control Center: Entering the Overdrive aspect and changing the GPU setting to 509 and the memory setting to 505 no longer results in color corruption and the Windows XP operating system rebooting. Further information on this resolved issue can be found in topic number 737-21229

NVIDIA ForceWare Drivers v81.98 WHQL [Dec 21st]

A new WHQL Forceware graphics drivers v81.98 are available for download from the official NVIDIA download page.

Single GPU Issues Resolved:

- Low Viewperf 8.01 scores occur with Dual Core and dual processor systems.
- Dual Core Processors: Corel Paint Shop Pro X does not work.
- Rendering problems occur in Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
- GeForce 7 Series: Ground textures in Flight Simulator 2004 do not render correctly when using "Ultra High" settings.
- GeForce 7800 GTX 512: The system cannot resume from Standby.
- GeForce 7800 GTX/GT: Running F.E.A.R. hangs the system on the Apple 30" Cinema display when Monitor Scaling is used.
- GeForce 7800 GTX/GT, GeForce 6800/6600: Ground and water textures are corrupted when zooming out in Civilization 4.
- GeForce 7800 GTX/GT, GeForce 6800: Shadows fail to render in Splinter Cell 1.
- Dual GeForce 7800 GTX/GT: Everquest 2 launches to a black screen when antialiasing is set to 2xQ at 1920 x 1200 resolution.
- GeForce 7800 GTX 512: Chronicles of Riddick does not run at resolutions higher than 800x600.
- GeForce 7800, GeForce 6800: Corruption is seen in Flight Simulator 2004.
- GeForce 7800 GTX, GeForce 6800, Quadro FX 4500: The system slows down with the Liquid Edition SD time line.
- GeForce 6800: Wrong colors appear when playing QuickTime trailers using the non-native video resolution.
- GeForce 6800 Ultra / GeForce FX 5950 Ultra: Battlefield 2 has corruption or crashes when a player switches from zoomed commander view to zoomed sniper view.
- GeForce 6800: Shimmering or cropping of the full-screen video mirror occurs when covering the video window with another window.
- GeForce 6150/6100, Windows XP Media Center Edition: The driver does not recognize display connection changes that occur during a
system shutdown.
- GeForce 6100/6150, Windows Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2: HD modes are listed as available when a TV is connected
using S-Video.
- GeForce 6150/6100, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005: The display remains inactive when resuming from Suspend mode.
- GeForce FX 5200: Textures disappear in CrimeLife v105.
- GeForce4 Ti 4200, Windows 98: Java applications crash when calling OpenGL.

NICE!

the nvidia 81.95 gave me problems on CS, it would show me the cs screen(with two cts) then it would quit the game and go bacck to desktop.

I installed a much older driver, 77.xx and it works flawlessly. IN WIDESCREEN!! hehe

Catalyst control center is part of the reason i'm looking into SLi for my next machine images/smilies/sad.gif. I dunno, i'll have to see what I have money for after I get some bills paid (since christmas has become expensive :-\).
