Default Bluetooth help

Hopefully you guys can help me out with this one. I just bought myself a Samsung SGH-a737 yesterday and, since the only way to transfer songs is through bluetooth, i tried to do that with my computer.

Problem is, I keep getting this error message whenever i try to turn the computer's discoverability on:

An error occurred while Windows was saving your
settings. The following settings were not saved:
Discoverability settings
Connection settings

It also can't find any devices at all. Now, I know that Bluetooth works on my computer because I've used it before to transfer songs to my old phone a really long time ago, so its something recently that just happened. How do i get bluetooth to start working again?

If it helps, my computer is an IBM Thinkpad X31 Laptop.

May sound obvious, but have you set the phone up properly to allow the connection? The phone needs to be discoverable before it will connect. This is usually under the bluetooth options in the phone menu.

Some mobile carriers are disabling connection to computers specifically, to make you purchase ringtones and music.

Yeah, I've turned the Bluetooth on my phone on and made it discoverable, but when I go into the Bluetooth settings, I find that the computer is not discoverable. I check the box to make it discoverable and click ok, but that error comes up and nothing happens.

Hopefully Samsung isn't one of those manufacturers.

Shell out the 30 bucks for the cable. Its well worth it, especially for much quicker file transfer.

If all else fails, you could boot to an Ubuntu LiveCD and see if bluetooth works there.

Try to find out what brand your BT adapter is. I had a similar issue with stock Windows drivers running A2DP with my headphones, ended up having to install OEM drivers. In my case it was a Broadcom chip, its very possible yours is the same.

Thats a bit too drastic, don't you think?

You don't have to install it.

Basically I don't think there is any other way but googling it. Try getting this these are for the broadcom chipset, they are the most common. Worst case scenario it won't install images/smilies/smile.gif

Well, now that that issue is cleared up, I have a bluetooth question. I also have a Samsung A-737 and I want to use it as a modem so I can bypass this damn web filter. I have it enabled on the phone and when I try to connect to it for this purpose I get this error:

All other BT functions work fine.

www.howardforums.com images/smilies/smile.gif This is a huge cell phone forum, I suspect you need to enable/disable something on your phone to get the functionality.
