can anyone recommand a good photo organizers?
does anyone have any recommendation for a photo organizer?
I got thousands (if not tens of thousands) of digital images and photos on my computer, they are currently organized by multiple layers of folders, simple but not very efficient nor effective. what I am looking for is sort of like multiple-tagging ability, kind of like how GMail organizes emails. for example if I have a folder of vocation photos, I want to be able to tag it "vocation" and "family", and when I want to browse through certain category of photos, clicking on "family" will bring up all my folders/albums with "family" tag on it. I'm not sure if there's such a program, I may be asking a bit much, but after using and seeing how efficient tagging works in GMail, I just want the same with my photos. any suggestions would be appreciated.

Windows Explorer works for me. Just organize them properly in the first place

You can do what you wanna do with Picasa (kinda). Right click a folder, selct move to collection , make a new one and off you go. Its not multiple, though...
I can see that there are some problems when you have a party with friends and family, i.e. Wait, just discovered: Also you can select a number of image, press ctrl + k and you can enter tags... Personally, I just use the timeline view. /edit: I just updated Picasa: Has there always been the geotag function? Thats pretty cool... Geotagging my pics right now!!!

I use Explorer myself (tons of subfolders FTW), but Picasa rocks too.

thanks for the suggestions guys, I gave Picasa another spin and found it not very efficient when dealing with 10,000+ images (yes I did try geotagging, thanks for the information Buba!)
I will have to look into Lightroom Viper007Bond, ya currently I am using tons of folders and subfolders, it is organized but kinda hard to find exactly what I'm looking for (or anything related), I just wish there would be a program that would leave files in their original folder using Windows Explorer, simply tagging each folder, and quickly jump/open the appropriate folder(s) when each tag is selected. I guess I really am asking too much
