Default Can you convert .avi files to .wmv files?

Well can you? And if you can, could you please explain how you do it?

But why would you want to is my question. Unless it's a standard AVI and not a DivX or XivD compressed video, I doubt the filesize will go down without loss of quality.

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

My thoughts exactly.
Most of the time I do the opposite - convert stupd WMV files over to AVI.

On a similar note, has anyone converted ASF to AVI or MPEG successfully? I've been having a lot of problems trying to get some of the ASF files ripped to a format that can be burned to DVD-video.

For one very good reason, Pocket PCs can not play .avi files... so in order to get the TG episodes that I want onto my PPC, I need to convert it to .wmv.

Always use TMPGEnc for my video conversion work. Works a charm.
