Default Can't get f'ing port fowarding working

It was working a long ass time ago, but then stopped. After all this time, I'm finally determined to figure out what's up.

I have DSL modem -> router -> PC.

What I've done:
  • Bypassed the router and plugged my PC directly into my router. No luck.
  • Enabled DMZ forwaring from my modem to my router. No luck.
  • Glared at my modem and router. No luck.

Used http://www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port=XXXXX to test.

http://pic.phyrefile.com/2008/01/11/actiontec.png

http://pic.phyrefile.com/2008/01/11/linksys.png

Any clues?

If BT does not work even when you plug your PC directly into the Modem, it might be your ISP blocking that protocol. Other than that redirecting the Port or putting your PC in the DMZ should both make BT work.

Any software firewalls running?

Dumb question I know, but uTorrent is configured with the same port as that being forwarded?

I thought about that, but it seems unlikely. This is America where only Comcast does that, I'm using encryption, a non-default port, etc.

I'm thinking it's my modem.

Maybe another stupid question, but Windows firewall isn't blocking? I know you can block/open ports there too...

It certainly hasn't got anything to do with the router, if it also doesn't work when connecting directly with the modem..but i suppose you figuered that out yourself images/smilies/smile.gif

It's off.

Yeah, router isn't the problem. My ISP (unlikely I think), my modem (probably), or my PC (unlikely) is the problem.

Gonna go check DSL Reports forums and see.

Okay, progress:

Modem -> PC: set DMZ to PC's IP address, worked like a charm. So apparently my router is the problem.

Set modem's DMZ to router's IP (192.168.1.1). Enabled port forwarding on my rotuer to my PC (even DMZ too), no luck.

Ugh.

Viper, I have an actiontec DSL modem from Qwest with wireless just sitting here, do you need it? I did Slingbox, BT, and all sorts of other weird ass stuff thru this thing so I know it will do it.

Running Tomato, so that site wouldn't be of any help. Plus, it doesn't appear to be rocket science. There's a port foward screen where I enter numbers. That's it.

Probably identical to mine. I have a GT701-WG and there's no issues with it as when I plugged directly into it and setup DMZ to my PC, it worked fine.

Hell, I did it on my old router just fine, but then it just stopped working one day (can't remember when, so I can't know why, but it doesn't really matter). That was a long time ago, back on my old router running stock firmware.

In Tomato, edit the port forward entry for uTorrent and try putting the same port in the Int Port field as well. I use Tomato as well, and doing that works like a charm for me. I know it says that if you leave it blank it defaults it, but it's worth a try, although I'm guessing it's something else that is causing the problem.

Try enabling UPnP port forwarding and configuring it in your torrent client as well.

Meh. I hate UPnP, but I'll try it.

Does it work when you forward other ports for other purposes? Even if you don't have a corresponding app, does forwarding a completely random port work?

Can't think of any other app to use to test and already using a completely random port.

I tried to set-up port forwarding last week with a near identical configuration as you have Viper, but have had no luck so far...

Hopefully someone has the answer...

Oh by the way portforward.com is pretty shit.

I know it's probably a stupid question, but just to double check: are you sure your static IP (internal IP) is correct?
