Screeching sound?
Run some HD diagnostic tests, check that the fans are working, check temps. More info would help

some very very basic basic things to check is if your CPU HSF is clogged with dust. You may be experiencing over heating when you run games.

Run some kind of cpu/memory test to see if it crashes there. (i'd recomend trying prime95). Something that really makes that combo work hard.
Using that we can see if your graphics card is to blame, since you say it only happens with games. |

it may be the PSU on the blink. I've known some power supplies to make some right terrible sounds as they die, and if it is dying, you can bet your bottom dollar there are some crazy voltages zapping around here and there making your computer do silly things like crash. I'd definitely be checking it out, if it does let go, it may mean relpacing more than just a PSU...

Usually a computer "screams" when over heating, this is a built in warning system into most motherboards.. are all fans working and good airflow happening? watchout for dust too which retains the heat in the heatsink of your cpu!!
Hope this helps |

Well it only "screams" when theres music/noise playing. If i'm just searching the net, it willl crash with no noise. I have 7 Fans...i'm pretty sure theres enough air going in.
Now its crashing whenever it feels like it....i think its the HD because before it crashed i heard a "click" |

If you heard a "click" from the hard drive, and you have 7 fans running?? I would imagine its a loss of power to the drive. the noise you hear is probably the head droping back to park position in your hdd (this usually sounds more like a ... boing, if you know what i mean)
Do you know what watt's your power sup is? if your like me (need to know) disconnect everything except hdd and switch power socket from cd-rom to hdd... see what happens leave the case open and limit the amount of fans running.... Interesting though, make sure you post your conclusions for us all here is it ram 10 : 1 is it hdd 5 : 1 is it power sup 3 : 1 is it other 15 : 1 Taken all bet's |

Bah i'll do this tommrow, the HD is in the mail anyways...i have to return this 60 gig one i borrowed anyways.
480 Watt Theremaltake I had faulty RAM, but i returned it...but i guess i'll have to make that boot ISO thing for mem test. Ya its a big mofo case and the click did sound like it was just returning to its position, but its been on for 6 hours and it hasn't crashed...maybe i'll play some Red Orchestra and it will prob crash on me again. |
