Default Converting divx wmv etc to DVD

I've had an attempt at searching for this, but not exactally sure what I should be searching for... so i'll ask the question.

What do I do or what do I use to convert stuff like divx, wmv, etc to create a DVD? Free (legally) is prefered.

i use winAVI for this sort of thing. totally free, and will convert any video type to a dvd file (as far as i remember, been a long while since i used it). just don't interrupt it, or the dvd will cut off half way through.

If want the process to be simple, Nero's your answer. For flexibility, I use MainConcept Mpeg Encoder & TPMGEnc DVD Author.
