| Is it normal for the CPU usage to be at 100% during games? I haven't really done a whole lot of monitoring in the past, but I've been using Rainmeter lately. I have a A64 3500+ and when I fire uip Richard Burns Rally it shoots up to 100% even at the menus when I'm just sitting there doing nothing. In windows, the CPU is usually only in the range of 0-2% when I'm not doing anything important (Besides uTorrent running in the background). Just wondering if this is normal. I'll have to try another game and see what happens, but this is all I've been playing lately ![]() | |

| I find it varies a lot depending on the game. FIFA 06 tends to push mine up a bit, HL2 is generally fairly low but then I find HL2 varies depending on what's going on in the game.

| Yeah, it's supposed to go to 100% when you play games, if it didn't you'd be wasting CPU power. I run my CPU at 100% all the time cos of Folding@Home, as long as your temps stay within spec it's fine.

| I just find it weird that it skyrockets to 100% as soon as I doubleclick the game icon and it stays at 100% until I exit the game. It never bogs or anything and my frame rates are beautiful, but I just figured it the CPU usage would fluctuate depending on what I'm doing in the game.

I mean, this is like asking if a GPU (the video card's CPU) should be at 100% when playing a game and the answer is yes. I mean, why would you want less FPS than you should get? ![]()

There is no replacement for displacement. - Wolfgang Bernhard, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Dodge Viper SRT-10 ... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control.
