| Alright, so I have a Linksys 54G v.4 router (standards Staples issue) that has been reflashed to DD-WRT's v23 SP2. I have a beige box running Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn and Azureus that is doing my torrenting. (I'm a n00b, so I'm just doing UPnP and have a shared folder that it automatically imports torrents from. I did set the max connections down to 100, and my upload capped at 22kbps). In a larger attempt to not crap out my network when my Tivo, or other computers need the network, I attempt to set up QoS on my router. Anytime I attempt to perform any change in this menu (set up by MAC address, IP, Application, etc...) it crashes my router and will do one of the following; lose my connection to the Internet and doesn't show up having an external IP addres, or crash the router entirely and I have to do a hard reset to restore factory defaults. Anyone on here have similar issues? Are there any good routers out there that can do some packet shaping for me without costing me an arm and a leg? I'm not overly tech saavy, so setting up a Linux router is beyond my current level of understanding, or at least beyond my knowledge. Does the new Airport Extreme do QoS? Any other advice you can give me? I've read EPP_B's latest post about uTorrent, and I've made most of those changes on my own network, but I would like to go a step further. Thanks all for advice or pointers. This site is one of the better resources I've found lately about this stuff.

| is awesome! | I switched from DD-WRT a while back due to QoS issues. It's been about a year so I'm a bit fuzzy on the details, but the QoS didn't work too well, and crashed the router every couple of days. Have you tried another WRT firmware? If you haven't and you don't want to immediately run out and drop money on a new router, I'd suggest Tomato. It's what I'm running at the moment and is a fantastic package that's very easy to use and comes configured to allow easy QoS setups for P2P networks. Check this site for a great deal of help as well as a variety of WRT-54 firmware projects Tomato

| I've been using Tomato for months now and never had a problem with it.
