Dead and Fake Sony memory card

Hi guys.

Here, I have a 4 GB "High Speed" Sony Pro Duo Memory card. I have been using for the past half a year, using it to listen to songs on-the-go, watching Top Gear, and playing ISO games on it occasionally.

However, it has only recently been a big problem. The card started to have corrupted data. Maybe 1 out of 30 songs or photos will be corrupted. Sometimes, the games will crash for no reason. And today, out of the blue, the PSP reads "This Memory Stick cannot be read", and wants me to format it. But hell, when I format it, it says no memory stick inserted. It's the same thing on the PC.

Going online, I found out it's a mothafucking fake, since the PSP and the card was bought in Shanghai. The card's outer plastic also split, and the printing faded, meaning poor build quality.

So my question is, is there any solution to this problem? I have heard of some softwares that can rescue the card from this death. Can anyone please help?

^ No idea. It was my dad, who doesn't know anything about IT at all, got the whole PSP + memory card + games bundle. We were charged SGD $500 for the whole bundle though.

I got a 4GB off eBay for about £14. That was definitely a real one, and is going well after a year and half. How long have you had it for? If you've been using it for a while and it cost less than an official Sony one, you can't really complain. Just get a new one. images/smilies/smile.gif

Try reading it using another device with MS pro duo card slot. If it doesn't work either, hope you have all the files on it backed up. images/smilies/wacko.gif
