Download day 2008 - Firefox 3 - Page 3

i'm currently running FF 3.0 RC2 and it's working great images/smilies/smile.gif

so i'm also going to download the FF 3.0 stable version on the 17 of june images/smilies/smile.gif

i just love Firefox images/smilies/firefox.gif

Hm... i always wondered about installing a new numbered version... Do you have to remove the old one first or can you do it later so I don't lose any bookmarks etc..? I had minefield beta installed a while back, i uninstalled it and it took v2 with it too...

i installed 2.0 over 1.5 and it worked, it overwrote it, ie removed and installed the new one. Should be the same principle here.

3.0 Beta 5 (now rc1) installed over 2.0 when I upgraded Ubuntu, and it kept all my preferences, bookmarks, history (which showed up right away in the Awesome Bar) and plugins. The only problem is that some plugins aren't compatible with 3.0 yet, and Phyrefile seems to have trouble with it (pictures will say they failed to upload, even though they didn't and you can see them when you click "home").

Well, after installing 3 beta, both versions were in the add/remove programs. So i decided to remove 1, it removed both.

I installed the Firefox 3 Release Candidate 2 on my laptop yesterday. It works fine, but since I use it, there's some weird HDD activity every few minutes, like something shoves around data all the time. Any idea?

I installed FF3RC2 a weak ago and it deleted FF2 with all of my bookmarks images/smilies/mad.gif

Like I might have not said before, I'm leaving it until the Stable release comes out. I don't trust Betas and the like at the best of times, and it spoils the excitement. images/smilies/smile.gif

It's probably sorting your history into the fancy search address bar or something.

... Firefox didn't work anymore at all.
