Default DVD does not "recognize" disk's!

I have a problem, my dvd-r (philips dvdr1640p) does not recognize some of the dvds that I have burnt with that very same player.

I tried a disk I burned a few months ago, it says it is empty. Then I just burned one, it went to 100%, successful. The disc ejected, when I put it back in it say the disk is empty.

Some disks work perfectly, the disks are all the same brand.

What could be the problem?

Did you finalize? Got another drive to check that it is hardware related (I.e. Drive, or Discs)? Can you see the files in explorer when you put the disc in the drive?

I updated the driver and burned again at a lower speed, seems o be working now. On some disks it does not give me the option of finalizing.

was going to suggest the same method.

burn your dvds at a slower speed, most blank dvds (bar Verbatim, TDK and others) out there can not cope with the highest writing speed.

Have you tried cleaning the dvd player with one of those cleaning disks? My Philips wouldn't read a thing until i used this Link and now it works perfectly. I now use it regulary and it reads every disk i put in.

I always have problems with DVD-R, so i stick with DVD+R.

When I burn a DVD-R and finalize it, the same burner I burned it with, can't read it. Witchcraft!

^ Yes, I have stopped using DVD-R similar problems! Shame because they are cheaper.
