Default External HD Enclosures

I running outta space (again), so I'm gonna pick up a 750GB drive and move my shitty 250GB drive that I rarely ever use (it's being used basically as a huge DVD-R) to a new external enclosure. I don't know what to get though.

A real enclosure with a fan and everything: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817173042
OR
A HD dock: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153066

I'm leaning towards the dock. I'll probably have the drive off 99% of the time and the dock would be nice as I could continue getting more drives and just hot swap them as I need them and store them on my table when I don't (DVD's take too much fucking time to burn).

Thoughts?

... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

I'd go for the dock...I didn't know that existed, but i'm definitely gonna buy that here at work!

You can plug other hard drives in it in the future...when you run out of space on that 750gb again. Use them like CD's if you like images/smilies/smile.gif

On the other hand, what does often pluggin in/plugging out do to a drive? Any risks?

The dock, enclosure only makes sense if you are going to carry it around.

Alright, cool.

I think I'm gonna see if they have an eSATA version though for faster transfers.

EDIT: Aha, they do!
