I have a Canon Pixma and it's without a doubt the worst photo printer I've ever used. The color accuracy is awful and their calibration profiles are useless. I'm going back to Epson, the ink may be expensive, but I use bulk-ink anyway and at least they know how to make a photo printer that isn't shit.

Hey, I'll be straight up and say that I get 50% of my prints done at Costco because they do a great job, are massively cheap and (most importantly) publish their ICC profiles online. Costco FTW! The other 50% is done with semi-metallic ink and has to be outsourced.

I've always been unsure if printing pictures at home is actually worth it. There are loads pharmacies and the like that will print photos for you at dirt cheap prices per print, and will probably give you better quality prints than most photo printers.

Most will only do batches in multiples of 10 of 20 though. Haven't used them for a while, but now I've used up all my photo paper I might give them a try again. images/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah, I never print photos at home, and since the OP wasn't really asking about a photo printer, I didn't hesitate to recommend Canon because my Canon Pixma is excellent for general printing.

My Epson is good at printing pics (six carts for the colours helps) and its an all iin one - it does have some of the Epson downsides as mentioned, 25+ GBP for a set of original (EPSON) carts FFS. I would suggest tho' only suitable for snaps and not if serious about photos.
