Definately dual core processors. Go for intel, not AMD. It's a fact that intel make the better ones. Also, games in the future will most likely be developed to run on more than one processor. I reccomend any Intel dual cores above 3GHZ, so 6GHZ in total. Or you could go for a quad processor if you can find one.

Graphics card. Anything 512MB or above. NVidea definately do the best mid range cards, my opinion is that Radeon have some great cards above that.

And a modded gaming case with LEDs images/smilies/biggrin.gif

We need some help to do this.

What games do you play?
How much so you want to spend?
Will you buy online or in a B&M store?
Will you keep anything from your previous computer?

Games,well..to be frank not many, since I'v got a crappy video card,as of now im just playing NFS Carbon,Max Payne 2,and CS 1.6,I'll get better games once I get a better card..I'd spend no more than $1900 i guess..and buy at a store, and probably just keep my logitech g15 keyboard and my sony monitor, else all new..

Hmm,looks fine, but I think I'd still splurge a little bit more on graphics,I want the top of the range,no compromising this time, and I don't mind spending a little over the budget, because I noticed almost everyone here at finalgear have amazing desktops..

You're in Dubai, head over to Al Ain Plaza/Computer Plaza and a shop called Microplus and also Premier Comp, talk to them, they have everything. I just got back from Dubai a few days ago and bought almost all my new PC's stuff from there.

They have it all in that one plaza, no need to go anywhere else.

You don't judge a graphics card merely on the about of RAM. For instance, the manufacturers slap 256MB on a lot of crappy cards just to trick people into buying them over a 128MB card.

I would estimate you would spend $1000 on the tower and the stuff inside it for best bang for the buck. Cheaper = give up too much performance, Pricier = faster but with diminishing returns.

Definitely buy the beefiest power supply and strongest chassis. Most important parts of the system.

I'm building a pretty sweet gaming PC for about $1500 (not including the monitor, I alreadt have dual 19" LCDs)

I ordered everything from Newegg (3 separate orders):

http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/9256/order13mo.jpg
http://img158.imageshack.us/img158/3082/order28zv.jpg
http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/7422/order36tl.jpg

With shipping, tax, and after rebates it comes to about $1500.

If you want the latest and greatest video card, then you'll have to dish out some more, but I can live with the 7900GS for now. It gives me 100 FPS on BF2, who needs more? The TV tuner card was an extra treat images/smilies/wink.gif
