Needs a job!

So, I'm trying to get my SDA to function as a modem, I've been to install the HTC drivers needed so that Windows XP can see the device. Now, my question is, if anyone knows, is this supposed to be like a dial-up, or a type of "Always on" kinda thing, since it's connected to the WAP network on T-Mobile. Now this is why I ask this. When I active Modem Link on the phone, which, obviously, puts the phone in the Modem mode, it's wap.voicesteam.com as the "Access Point"
So yeah, I know I should be asking this at HoFo, but after a search, it seems it been asked, but ONLY to the point where they install the modem :/ I don't wanna be a repeating n00b.
