| are you talking about an HTML index page? or an index for a report or something like that? | |

| First of all you have to work with headings. Title 1 = heading 1 Title 1.1 = hearding 2 Title 1.1.1 = hearding 3 So Word knows what title is which level. And so, Word can see it is a title, and it numbers it automatically. Then, when you are finished with your work: insert -> index or reference -> index | |

| Yeah Jensked is right, it's real easy and when you finished the index you can control-click a chapter from the index and Word will take you there.
