HTC Dragon/Passion/Bravo/Google Phone

i have no idea whats what anymore all i know is that im gonna get one of them when either of them is released... and so far it seems that you can expect something with android and the snapdragon 1ghz by the end of January/early feb.. can't wait.

DIGITIMES reports that the Passion is being pushed back to early 2010 instead of EOY 2009 as originally planned. They are pushing it back to further enhance the custom apps on the Android 2.0 platform says the source. Interestingly the source also specs the Passion as being a 3.5" screen instead of 3.7" but with an OLED display (!). The source also mentions the Hero successor due out in February, saying it will have a qwerty but that it is NOT the Passion. No carrier info was mentioned.

Exciting to hear "sources" refer to the Passion by name.

You probably don't want to spend any money on SE phones for now.

I'm still on Windows Mobile and haven't decided which way to go yet. I think Android, webOS and WM all have serious shortcomings so I'm waiting until one proves itself over the others.

I really tend to like webOS for some reason but they're digging themselves a nice grave with the hardware they have over at Palm, so I just might be going the Android route unless Windows Mobile 7 does something big.

The HTC Bravo looks kind of bad though:

The HD2 is also seriously flawed... it's ugly (IMO), it's too big (IMO), it has camera issues, it has no d-pad or useful hardware buttons, it doesn't have an AMOLED screen, and thanks to Windows Mobile that big, bright screen is still limited to 65,000 colours.

Smib, I agree. This is the first Android phone to really get my attention... if the Droid had a Snapdragon and something other than the base Android I'd have bought a Droid but this looks even better.

Except, this doesn't look good at all. I don't know what is going on over at HTC, but they need to hire a new industrial designer. The HTC Hero (non-US) is really ugly in my opinion but at least it has character, these early shots of the Bravo just look super boring, like the HD2 kind of. Like on the HD2's, I figure those front buttons are quite ugly.

I agree that the Passion is pretty ugly, as is the X3, but Snapdragon and Android is just kickass. If I could get the Droid on AT&T I would have already.

I'm happy they keep making awesome Android phones with real keyboards (even if the Droid's does suck).

This means I can replace my G1 in another year or so with a new Android phone without sacrificing the real keyboard.

Also, Bravo = ugly.

So the question is, what carrier will have a Snapdragon Android phone and when? My plan is up in February and I was thinking DROID but my brother got one, and I've got to one up him/not have the same phone. We had the same phones growing up and I would like to get something with a better keyboard than the DROID, and the iPhones virtual one.

Why should i stay away from SE? i know they haven't sold a bunch of foneys lately, and if i remember correctly they are fireing some folks? Doesn't look like they will go under exactly tho.

Like I've said before, I really like the HD2 and would upgrade in a heartbeat if it wasn't so expensive or if I was at the upgrade point in my contract. Currently I have 12 (ish) more months with the Touch HD, which is no problem to me at all because for me it's pretty much faultless. I like WM 6.5 and after upgrading to it the camera on my Touch HD performs much better. I can imagine with double the CPU speed and RAM though everything will be much slicker.

The hardware on the HD2 is so nice it makes Windows Mobile look even worse and more outdated than it is. I'm fine with WM on my oldish phone, but I'd just hate myself for spending all that money on a WM device at this point in time.

Plus, knowing HTC they won't officially bring WM7 to the HD2 in all probability which is would be gay.
